Not quite a car, but my new bike im building, straight white tinter, gold overlay of pearl, then gold with a touch of red pearl. Since its so small its hard to notice the affect as much!

SYKO3L: Yea that is cheap my painter told me he usually charges $1500 for a full paint job but because the body was in such a good condition and i bought my own paint and stuff he said $700. JET-6 that frame looks good the gold pearl looks awesome. where did you get your pearl from? Macheda.

looks good matt. i went and saw the guys from house of kolor on the weekend and he convinced me not too stuff around with changing the colour of mine and suggested i spray an ice red pearl over the top. he put some on the car and it does a violet to red flip. lol. so i think i'm going that way for mine at xmas time Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The car is painted but we made a bit of a mistake with the mixing so it turned out a lilac colour which then turns to a pink colour in the sun. This wasnt what i wanted but i have plenty of left over paint and if i get a spray painting apprenticeship in the near future i will do it all over again myself, so it will stay this colour for now but i will post some pics up as soon as the car is all back together. (should be by the end of the week or next week) i will keep u posted ok Macheda

when you talk about a black basecoat is it just black paint or is it a special basecoat you have to use.im thinking of painting a car and want to know if this sounds right. - sand back -spray primer - black base coat . do you then sand this or what.is it normal black paint -spray the candy stuff. is it just the powder mixed into clear -sand again and more candy? -polish

you base can be any colour you like generally black shows some colours better. dont spray candy then sand and candy again, you'll regret it.

how is this **** even called candy coz it is not. i have used alsa corps and HOK candy concentrates and they are unreal. a candy is supposed to be either mixed in with clear or a pigmentless clear basecoat tinter and sprayed over either silver, gold, grey metallic base coat.(some people cheat a bit and mix the candy concentrate in with a gold or silver metallic tinter and this works also if u arent confident enuf to spray real candy). if u sprayed a true candy over a black basecoat it doesnt show up at all coz i have sprayed out test cards to find this out for myself. i marbled some stuff and then painted HOK brandy wine red candy over the top and it looks onreal, i will be doing my whole dash the same colour. HOK candy concentrate is about $84 incl. gst for a 236ml can and alsa candy concentrate is about $50-60. HOK 236ml can makes up 2ltrs of candy when mixed with either clearcoat or pigmentless clear tinter.

Hey guys, The car still isn't all back together yet but the engine is in and just a few little things have to go back on and then she will be complete. the colour looks so different up close, so hard to get a good picture of it. Finally got around to getting some pics up though here they are. Still needs a clear coat over the top with some more gold pearl because the paint has come out dry this should be happeneing some time soon. well guys after long enough debate of looking at the wagon and it not being the colour i or my partner was after i have decided to paint it again. here's a few pics of the new colour. it's a custom pink with a ice red house of kolor pearl over it. pics were taken straight after being sprayed. let me know what you think?
