just found out the flow figures of a dead std 2J head and 1J head
yes i know its not a SOHC
std 2J as follows
238@400lift intake
154@400lift exhaust
std 1J
215@400 intake
133@400 exhaust
even after the guy ported the 1J head, it still didnt match the std 2j head
figures where 230 and 152@400
all tests where done on the same bench
i guess that puts the rumour to rest that the 1j head is better than the 2J

boys im going to get some head work soon and this post has been very informative! thanks guys
some quick Q's
figures like 225 at 78% @500 @28"with 1mm over size
can someone elxplain what all that means? i assume 1mm oversize refers to the valve, but 500 lift and 28"?? ive got no idea!

225 CFM (cubic feet per minute- airflow) at 28 inches of water (thats a vacuum unit) 28" is now the most used std for flow testing heads.
.500 is 1/2 an inch, its the valve height off the seat that got the highest flow reading
the percentage is usually the exhaust flow compared with the intake flow
and yes 1mm is the valve head oversize
