10-07-07, 19:36 GMT+10#61 spools are great. can beat em for good ol fashion reliable. and i find if you spend alot of time 200km plus, then your much safer with a spool.
if you wingin about a spool buy yourself a ford fairlane or something. but inn saying that. it all depend on your prefered way of driving.
i enjoy ****loads of sreetracing (sensible of course) and alot of donunts

How do you get around it? With my LSD in it's smooth as silk which I put down to the fact that it spins one wheel more than the other. Please help, it feels like crap
Mini spool you either love it or you hate it. I've had spool for over3 yrs you get used to it. I find wider tyres on the ass take the absorption of the skipping in car parks and tight turns, bald tyres also help. If you getting to much axel tramp your not driving the car hard enough put your foot down let those tyres fry and let the sucker skate and thats what mini spool is all about.

12-07-07, 21:29 GMT+10#71 I found mine tramped harder when I got into it more... Only tramped when doing a straight line skid (drop the clutch from the lights etc.)... But that was in the n/a, so I could only imagine what it would be like with a bit more power...
I just put up with it...

12-07-07, 21:55 GMT+10#76 I'm getting a bit of tramp with the Lokka too. All new urethane bushes in the rear too. Ive got adjustable upper arms so the pinion angle might be out perhaps?

18-05-10, 06:04 GMT+10#77 just thought i might bring this back to the front page, and revive an old thread...
i was wondering why these days there isnt much mention of detroit lockers? seems whenever someone brings up traction issues or rear end ideas theres always the redknecks shouting spool spool! (i have a spool to, so i mean it lightheartedly) and then the people with more money on the other side of the fence chanting lsd lsd!
has a Detroit Locker been proven useless? or do they suffer failures, i just wonder why no-one shakes the DT cage anymore?
i only ask because im contemplating building a new diff as i jsut feel like my 28 spline minispool isnt going to last, its already shuddering a bit, and while i will put fresh pushes throughout, i'm not so sure it will help too much.
rather than going for another cheap fix i will start from square one, and go for a propper built diff, more than likely a 9inch, considering a kaaz but i fear the lsd, as they do have a tendancy of deciding to change from single wheeler to driving both wheels at the worst time, even with kaaz excelent reputation.

18-05-10, 11:01 GMT+10#79 I think theres not alot of talk on detroit lockers yet because they are only relatively new to the scene, I think it was only 6 months ago they started making them for the borg warner diffs, they are around $1500 I will get one down the track for sure.

18-05-10, 11:17 GMT+10#80 If you want limo, get a Kaaz, if you're too tight, get a spool, for best of both, get a locker.
Dont waste time or money on a cone type lsd, they can need rebuilding as soon as every 3 months when under power/stress

I have a Lokka branded mechanical locker in my dailer, and its good fun, occasionally tramps, but pinion angle would be up the ****
