ply-boi you don't need an airbox in qld pod with a bracket
Hey his maunal ecotec ran 15.7 there is no way you can say that a rb20 manual with 4.11s a front mount an exhaust and 14 psi will be slower

Interesting conversion and i appeciate the trouble you have gone to.
Zoom mag followed the same conversion about two years ago, i belive they put 4.11 gears in the diff to make it go and then fitted a huge turbo and rb26 throttle bodies to make it go. From what i could make of it the results were a bit disapointing in std form

So here,
thumbs up for being different,
its not very often that u see something different these days.
although it would have been nice to see a rb25 or even better a 26 or even a twin cammed 30,
looks good so far are you doing the work yourself??
anyways, G/L hope you get what you want out of it.
thanks mate the plan was to put a rb25 in it but i could not find one but when this one blows up i will put a 25/30 in it
haha man.. i bet half teh people have never been in an RB20 powered VL or R32 for that matter.. they are good engine and are very reliable..
itsgood to see your doing somthingdifferent and honestly.. you should be in the same power to weight category as an R32 GTS-t..
good luck with it..

lol for sure but the beauty of what he has done is that if he does blow the motor or gearbox up at any stage he can bolt an rb25 gearbox or motor or an rb25/30 which is what he wants to do should be good
vn-1986 and atmobt1 ur both a pair of wankers. U dont know ****. shut the fu ck up you co cksuckers and learn *YOUR* facts. uv gota learn not to shoot ur mouths off.
personally, i wouldnt do the conversion. if i wanted a fast rb20 id put it in a 180 or silvia, but hats off to vst20 hes come up with a very original idea. bet it would flog your piece of rubbish cars.
like to see atmobt1 and vn1986 have the balls or brains to do a good and original conversion.
and whoever it was that said ecotecs only help the ants make their dirt hills- THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE EVER READ ON THIS FORUM!!! ROTFLMAO
Cheers.
There's no use arguing over a car thats not yet finished, wait and see if it gets finished first, I know of plenty of dreamers who have ideas of doing things that no-one has heard of and they always make a start but not many finish the project. Good luck with it, I am interested in how it goes. Have a read of this thread:

I have had my RB30 put out 176rwkw on Bresciani Dyno, but I have pulled 8.8 on the 1/8 mile with crappy street tyres. The main difference is torque, and torque is what makes a car move in low revs, so you'll be running around revving the tits off it to make it move.

i do not going to hijack this dudes thread atmo. weve been thru this. i'm not in the mood to argue. but please do not try and patronise me. its pathetic.
mainly, it was aimed at vn1986 who had a pretty unfair go at the poor guy over something that is completely his choice and helps him sleep at night. as i said, good on him for doing an original and, yes, *GOOD*. meaning, IMO, ecotecs have no where near the hi end power a rb20 has. im a huge fan of small displacement 6cyls because they usually sound awesome (IMO), are much more fun to modify, get better results and have pretty good mid and top end power. maybe itll cost a little more to maintain and perform, but for someone who has the cash, why the hell not! and i hate to tell you, even an ecotec, an rb30 or wateva, will never out-torque a v8 or any other large displacement per cylinder engine. does that make sense???
Let the people with different tastes in this world have their chance and their say. Everyone deserves to do what they want with whatever resources they have.
Sounds fair to me.

nice post
and yeah i know there aint no replacement for displacement, i have already penned out my next car roughly and it will definately be a carby n/a v8
You are right about the sounds of small hi revving i6's, but there is a certain other 2l 6 cylinder motor i would prefer to an rb20 hehe

very clever. u linked two different topics im impressed atmo LOL
i also want a v8 for my next car. althought not carby if i can help it, and hopefully not n/a for too long either . i wana show u vl boys wat real torque and power is! ahahha
Blower whine here we come..... *dances*

Thanks for all your comments i do have big plans for this car the good thing now is that i can bolt any rb motor in it but i would like to see how far i can take the rb20 before i blow it up
I was just wonding if any one has bought a 6boots deal or know of any who has because i am keen on getting one for my rb20
There was a guy that lived around the eastern suburbs last year that had an RB26 in a VX ute!!! i haven't seen it at any shows for a while but dam that thing was a work of art.... i think its number plate were HUZZ, it was white and sat on 20's with custom interior THE WORKS.
I'll see if i can find some pics!!
bit off topic:
