17-09-05, 11:27 GMT+10#66 you may be talkin driveability at 11 12 13 seconds, but wat about 8 9 10.Most turbs at those are just as bad a v8 if not worse and probably guzzlin more fuel due to massive boost

There is no replacement for displacement. V8 turbos is the ultimate.
The V8 rumble with the turbo forcefeeding, nothing quite like it.
V8 N/A... I don't like the very linear power deliver, much to suttle and boaring for myself.
A 3ltr with a well sorted turbo is much more fun.
Turbo's does apparently use more fuel than an a n/a making the same power.
But.. general driving, the turbo car will always come out with better fuel economy.
My rb30det gets around 11.5km's per 100kays running a 12:1afr as soon as it jumps out of o2 closed loop mode, as soon as the base map has been tidied up i'm expecting around 10.5 as it used to be when running 13.5:1afr when off boost.

18-09-05, 15:36 GMT+10#70 Well boyz and girlz,
Its all about horse's for course's, I am a V8 boy but i like turbo vl's. I get my arse kicked all the time by turbo cars to 160 km\h but when it comes to the big numbers like doing 250km\h its all about the inches. I do 225km\h in third at 6000rpm slap her into 4th and keep on driving all the way home. I can get my speedo to reset back to 130km\h and keep going up. My gear box mechanic reckons i would have been doing 250km\h or there abouts. And i was only doing 4500rpm and i ran out of road.

18-09-05, 16:33 GMT+10#71 Power and a well match gearing + aero is what yields top end speed.
It has nothing to do with if its forced induction or N/A.
Its all very basic. Forced induction could be considered to be synthetic inches as the motor is consuming the same amount of air as a larger motor. Air is what makes power.
Get the turbo making the same power as what you are and there is no doubt it will sit side by side given gearing and aero the same.
Personally.. I used to own a VS 5ltr 5speed, fe2, srs, irs, mild cam, ecu done, 3.5" single exhaust.
That used to hit 250km/h without too much trouble, was a dog under 3000rpm though. Rather gutless for a v8.
I ended up selling it due to fuel consumption and decided to have a play with turbo.
So I bought a R32 GTST threw on an exhaust, fmic and dialed in 1 bar of boost.
Both cars were making roughly the same power (within 10rwkw). The R32 was much much quicker up top and launched so much quicker out of corners due to its higher average power and well matched gearing and being lighter.
There was definitely no doubt about that. What I'm getting at is there is much more to performance than simple cubes.
That was my own first hand experience, allthough the R32 does weight ~150kg less than the VS. :P

You have a rocket on your roof?lol
I think its fairly well known and proven that cars with forced induction will have stronger topend than an atmo vehicle....
You just need to compare some numbers at the track. From my experience for any given ET the Force Inducted car will have the higher MPH over its Aspirated counterpart...unless its on NOS which is another story altogether.

18-09-05, 18:21 GMT+10#76 How can u compare a v8 to a turbo, A v8 is an engine and a turbo is something that aids engines in making power???????
The obvious answer would be to put a turbo on a v8

thats exactly right........the title should have been n/a or turbo........i mean nothing beats displacment.......if u have a v8 with a turbo its gonna go alot harder then a 6 with a turbo.......everyone has there preference and opinion....and if u dont like what someone else drives then who cares jus stick to wat u like.....

That's what I do like about them. When I put my foot down I want power now, not after 30 minutes of turbo lag.
A V8 is so much more usable on the street because of the low down torque. It's funny when people are in my car and can't believe that it can drive up steep hills at 1300rpm.
