17-11-05, 10:48 GMT+10#62 in GTST the only difference between R33 and R34 is the sandwich plate.

17-11-05, 22:05 GMT+10#63 the syline na boxes are basically mf5 boxes if your gonna go to the effort of replacing your box i strongly recommend a r33 gtst box they are FANTASTIC they make you feel really safe slamming through gears i.e my mf5 felt like it was gonna explode

04-12-05, 18:27 GMT+10#64 i just did the conversion on my car. I used the MX7 clutch and flywheel and it fitted, i didnt have to grind anything although i had to modify the sandwhich plate for the MX7 starter.

06-12-05, 10:18 GMT+10#66 I bought a half cut last week from Toy Shop Automotive Imports (http://www.japimports.com.au/), which was originally a manual half cut, but I asked to leave the manual box out, and they did, so if anyone is looking for an R33 GTST manual box, go there and they should still have it.

20-12-05, 08:29 GMT+10#73 DON'T rush into buying one from an importer till you have checked the skyline australia forums. I picked mine up for $800. YEAH ! You heard. $800.
Just sign up and create a wanted thread.
Would you go to a car yard to buy a VL. NO ! You would spend the time searching this site for one half the price. Same applies to a gearbox.

30-12-05, 20:08 GMT+10#78 hello fellas brillient thread and thanks for all the help as i am gonna need it i think!
umm, just one thing the bel housing on the MX7 can u take it off and put it on the R33GTST Gearbox? or not work???
(just the outside casing where the clutch fork hole is ect)
oh and did u also say that the VLT tail shaft DOES NOT NEED THE R33 YOKE???
also does that mean the spigit for the Clutch ect. is the same as a MX7 i heard they were different!? but obersly not if everyone has done it!

31-12-05, 00:02 GMT+10#79 Spigots are the same for all RB manual boxes.
Yes the MX7 tail shaft will fit straight up to the R33 box.
Why change bellhousings its been said the 10" clutch fits fine into the R33 box.
Also, short shifters are a good quick way to bugger your syncros. So remember that when your box is buggered.
The drive gears themselves are strong as an ox, however the syncros are still as weak as any standard production manual transmission syncros are.

02-01-06, 21:27 GMT+10#80 Happened to be browsing through the site and came across this guy that said the following.
Quote:
the vl turbo flywheel and clutch supposbly is meant to fit in the r33 box... But i tried it and it didnt work. not fors hit. I eventually got the box and flywheel and that spinning in the r33 box freely, after i had grinded out some of the housing. but the actual starter motor then wouldn't fit.
87Calais has actually tested this for a fact as stated earlier in the thread and said it will not fit without grinding.
Therfore im going to say that either there is a couple of different box models or more then likely the people who claim the 10" flywheel/clutch fit without grinding/modification are mistaken.
