10-12-08, 21:47 GMT+10#61 can they be just wired up to standard plug that used to plug into the normal single fan setup? without the thermo fan kit thingo?

11-12-08, 07:37 GMT+10#63 I find an easy way of controling these fans is with a KC KE laser thermo fan switch. This type of sensor is loses its ground when it reaches temp, so you have to use a 5 pin relay to switch your 2 4 pin fan relays on. So essential u r using a low voltage circuit to turn on a high voltage circuit.
If you tap the sensor in where the vl coolant bleed is this puts the sensor right in the path of hot water. fans cut in and and out at about 90c. heaps neater than temp probes that clamp into top hoses.
hope that helps a few people

11-12-08, 17:35 GMT+10#65 Ooooh, that's very cool. Good find! If the probe turns out to be messy, then I'll go this path.
Only advantage of the probe is that it's fully adjustable.

12-12-08, 06:21 GMT+10#66 probe is adjustable, yes.
remember, if you're running a stock ECU the maps ect are expecting the engine temp to be within a certain range - if you run the engine colder you may get differing results...
only issues i've had with the probe is when using organic (orgasmic) coolants they tend to grow fur around them

18-03-09, 13:08 GMT+10#74 If you have a look at how big the fans are, and where the cooler pipes run it seems like it would be very difficult. I am jsut going to get a single craig davies fan and hook it up to a switch inside the car. Also will be getting a slim aircon fan.

25-03-09, 10:10 GMT+10#75 will be getting a single thermo fan today, but l will be trying to install it in the original clutch fan shroud, would that be any good? twin au or el fans wont fit unelss l modify the gktech cooler pipes.

25-03-09, 16:35 GMT+10#77 so you don't have it switched on when it reaches a certain temperature? Did you install a shroud? It would be pretty useless l would think if it doesn't have a proper shroud.

25-03-09, 21:47 GMT+10#78 craig davies? craig david? old school singer guy?
better off with something that has a proper shroud cos a single thermo wont pull air thru the whole rad while one with a shroud will..

27-03-09, 18:06 GMT+10#79 Putting one of these on my project.
After dummy fitting it today i realised i needed to remove the two teets from the radiator.
Do i need to buy a transmission cooler to plug the trans lines into so it cools?
Its an NA vl for now with turbo coming.
