You were a carlength behind someone at 90km/h. That meets my definition of tailgating. Just some maths for you: 90km/h * 1000m per km / 60 minutes per hour / 60 seconds per minute = 25m/s if you were 5m behind the car, then it'd take you 0.2secs to move into the position that car was in. do you think you could react in less than 0.2 secs? cause if you can't you've almost certainly hit them if they perform an 'emergency brake test'.

I'm just saying that if I was following a car, not necessarily tailgating because I don't do that, and the only reason I'd be close to someone in front would be if they'd slowed down originally and I was slowing down to their speed. If the person in front was really that much of an ass to slam the brakes. And possibly cause a major accident for something that could of easily been avoided. And I for one, am not going to take the wrap for paying damages on his car when he/she caused the accident. That could of been avoided. And when we talk about hitting a pedestrian, why do we assume we're on an urban road. People still do live out in the bush, and nothing is predictable, thats why accidents happen. If we could say - I can do 200km/h now because I'm out in the bush. Then if thats the attitude you have, you deserve to crash. What happens if a Kangaroo runs out in front of the car, you either swerve, brake, or take it head on. Most people would probably try and brake or swerve. I don't think you'd find too many young guys in their vlt's that'd be willing on taking it head on. Theres just too many factors that everyone takes for granted. And this is why theres so many accidents. On another note. Why tap the brakes, if its day time turning the headlights on gets the taillights going anyway. That should be enough to give somebody a scare.

Ive thought about wiring my brake lights up to a seperate switch so that I can turn them on whenever I please for this reason exactly.

I don't tailgate just in case the person in front's car is about to crap itself and they want to write it off so they get an insurance payout - my mate does it all the time Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

okay, after reading some of these posts i've come to a few conclusions 1. people that drive under the limit are dumb. 2. it's gmh drives under the limit, but is a "model citizen" 3. people that drive crazy are dumb. 4. for everyone single person on here that frowns upon people doing a few silly things once in a while (a donut here or there at 3am, not drink driving or constantly doing 40+ over the limit in a fourby because you're a fat bitch) answer me this. why'd you buy a rwd? why'd you buy a turbo? hmm? i'm not saying the only reason people buy vl-t's is to do stupid things, but what inclined you to buy a turbo rwd 6cyl car?

In most cases, yes. If road conditions are fine then you should be doing the speed limit. 2. He has a good idea of what to do on the roads and what not to do... he never really says he drives under the limit though. 3. Yes, and dumb people die. 4. Honestly, there's a time and a place for doing silly things... in traffic is not one of them. Doing donuts on the highway is not smart either. I'll admit I've done a few silly things on the roads, but I wasn't about to risk people's lives doing it. Also, rwd = fun , turbo = more fun Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

[QUOTE=Proph]okay, after reading some of these posts i've come to a few conclusions 2. it's gmh drives under the limit, but is a "model citizen" QUOTE] well, I'll assume you're referring to me even though you totally f ucked up my nick.... sure, I drive under the speed limit, I back out of my driveway every day if that answers your question. No, I'm not a "Model Citizen" and I never claimed to be either. I'm older than most of you and have learnt alot whilst driving the last 19 years. I've had my licence suspended once and don't plan on doing that again. I think sp00nfed answered your other comments quite nicely. RWD, FWD and AWD are the same deadly weapon in the wrong hands!

Wow, this thread is awesome... One problem: I dont see any blood spilled yet. Ok. From past experiences from mates, asking an officer and USING FU(KING SOME INTERLLECT!!!! *points at half of you* - If you hit anyone from behind, wheather or not they jammed on their brakes, your in fault. At all times you should be travelling a 'safe' distance from the vehicle in front of you. Safe does not stipulate traveling "one car length" or any particular exact amount of metres. You are to adjust your driving styles to suit the conditions. In cases of bad weather, wet roads, faster speeds, open highways and near by farm land you are to increase your distance from the vehicle in front of you. You often experience people using short braking periods in school zones, where if one had some brains and maturity you would adjust speed to a slower pace to allow for such actions. Also, an english lesson. Speed Limit... speed. n. Physics. The rate or a measure of the rate of motion, especially: Distance traveled divided by the time of travel. The limit of this quotient as the time of travel becomes vanishingly small; the first derivative of distance with respect to time. The magnitude of a velocity. Limit. n. The point, edge, or line beyond which something cannot or may not proceed. You do NOT have to travel at that limit, BUT this is where it gets hard for some of you to comprehend. You are not to drive at such a speed which may cause or influence a hazard. Ok, plain and simple for some of us. Dont exceed the limit or Dont drive at such a speed under the limit which may cause an accident. taaa daaar. Any more brain boggling, mind numbing, purely stupid questions? this post should stirr some sh*t up Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

And it will. I'm saying if someone is travelling at the speed limit. Not over or under, On the speed limit. And reaches a car that is travelling 20km/h under the speed limit for whatever reason. If the driver in front, thinks that the driver behind, is travelling too close to be deemed safe. How is slamming on the brakes safe? Pretty stupid law if theres 5 people driving in a line, and somebody cuts the first driver off by doing an illegal u-turn or going through a giveway/ or stop sign. 5 car pile up, does the last car in the stack have to pay for it all?

If the car behind bumped the one in front before the the one in front hit the other. Yes. However, lets say #1 was at front, #2 was behind, #3 behind #2 and so on. #1 hits brakes for some unknown reason and #2 hits #1, #2 is in fault for hitting #1. Then if #3 hits #2 after #2 hits #1; #3 is in fault for hitting #2 etc. #1 is all clear unless he has run a red light, been deemed of driving recklessly, running stop sign so on so forth. p.s. Bextor... I like that avatar. I seemed to get mezmorised evertime u post.

Here's the solution, when behind another vehicle do not tailgate, give yourself enough room to safely stop if the vehicle in front should suddenly brake. Do not violently swerve from side to side if the vehicle in front is travelling slower than you would like, simply wait for a SAFE place to pass and overtake. I'm sure I learnt that somewhere!!!!!
