yeah, welding it up is defenitly the best way to go about it. I might end up doing it that way later on. Finially got my car to a point where i can try and start it, and it looks like my ecu is fingered Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Also can somebody please explain the TPS in a bit more detail because i am confused and how to set it up with the mulitmeter.... thanx QUIKVL

I've writen up a word document explaining how to do the xf tb mod. Its not very in depth, but it explains good enough how to do it. I still have to add pictures in it. Once i do that, i'll post it all up in the tech section. For the TPS, i only know what to do for a manual ok? When at idle, 2 pins on the TPS switch will be connected. When the throttle is open a little bit, they will then be disconnected. I think it is the top 2 pins on the VL TPS. The XF TPS is opposite the VL one. The bottom 2 are the ones that connect at idle. As for the 3rd pin, just make sure to remove that wire all together from the connector. REMEMBER, THIS IS FOR MANUALS ONLY. Hope that makes sense oh, my motor is all up and running now also. She sounds damn beefy at idle haven't been able to take it for a test drive yet but no doors, bonnet, and bootlid on it yet Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Dont mean to sound like a stooge or anything but, These XF throttle Bodies are the Falcon XF throttle bodies?

yep. Probably find them on other earlier models of fuel inject falcons also.

Yeah i have had a major problem with my Xf throttle body since i got it done. When i first took it out of the shop it was sitting on 1200rpm, compared to 750-800 with the standard. Took it back and it was fixed for a while. Just before christmas it began to ****t its self with the idle getting stuck on and it sputtering and missing all the time. I then realised that the bracket and nuts that held the tps to the bracket were stripped, so i tried to fix it with no luck. I also tried to move the tps around a bit, which helped with the idle, but as soon as i drove it it went straight back to it's original settings. I then noticed that the throttle wasn't snapping back all the way, but when i pushed on the throttle lever, it worked and went back to its original idle and position!!! I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same sorta problems an how did they fix them???? I dont know what series throttle i have (1 or 2) but the Tps is in a west position. could this be the problem if it is a series 2 throttle body??? Either way i will have to get my tuner to try again or take it to someone that specialises in this sorta modifiacation (or ring JPC or Brescianis or someone like that) to find out how or what the problem is and how to rectify it. I will give it another go at making it work but if it doesnt i guess i'll go back to the standard throttle even though i like the response of the xf one.

so did you modify the VL tps to fit onto the XF tb? or did you modify the wiring to use the TPS that came with the XF tb?

he made up a braket, that the Vl tps would fit on (as it is smaller) and just lined up the holes etc. I used to have a auto Tps on it, as the engine originally came from an auto. But we thought that might be the problem, so i swapped it to a manual one (seeing as though its a manual), but it made no difference. There was no modifying of the Wiring as i am using the original tps.

I figured it would be easier to use the XF tps. Look at tech article i did to see how i did the tps http://www.calaisturbo.com.au//showthread.php?t=32673 I don't know if you can change back to using the xf tps. I think you need to file a bit off the butterfly shaft to get the vl tps to fit on. Not 100% sure about that but. Did you do it all yourself? or did you get someone workshop to do it for you? if you got a workshop to do it, i would be taking it back there. I'm sure they will work it out for you.

yeah i got a workshop to do it for me then recalibrate the chip to allow for extra air. everything else is good but just the tps and the throttle body not shutting is the problem. also the missing and flatspots which i guess is caused by the tps. I'll bring it back for sure just gotta wait for him to get back from holidays. If he can't fix it im sure he'll know someone else that could like or get advice from JPC, etc

hey im planning on doing this mod, how much would it cost to get the plenum welded and ported? do you lose cruise control? and also what exactly does the TPS do, because whn i disconnect it it seems to make no difference to the car. Thanks for the help

I would guestimate the welding and porting will cost you $150-200 to have a jobbing engineer do it. Dunno whether the XF came out with cruise control, but adding the spring post and extra cable sheave could be a lot of stuffing around. You'd be best to sell the cruise control rig to me for $50 and let me do the fiddling :-) The TPS tells the computer that the throttle butterfly is closed. It's a simple on/off switch. If you leave it off while driving, the computer wont shut down the injectors at idle.

hey guys i just got an idea. i have a couple of standard VL throttle bodies laying around and i thought would it be better having a twin throttle body going into my standard plenum???? I can easily make up an adapter 2 into 1 type thing. Its just would you's reckon there'd be any gain? I would of course make the 2 into 1 adaptor bigger on the inlet side and port the plenum as well. Any ideas???

just wondering how you set up the VL TPS did you do it by measuring the volts (multimeter wires, one on ground, other on middle pin) or by measuring the resistance. im guessing by having it on ohms and measuring the top 2 pins (should be on zero at start, infinity once open), please help. I think the main point of my TB not shutting off is because the butterfly is stuffed that would explain high revs.

I did it by measuring resistance. If you butterfly isn't closing fully, u might have to loosen the 2 screws on it, close it, and tighen the screws again. Just to re-center it. might have to do it a few times to get it just right.
