Don"t think much of Fords.
You must think even less of Holden then, since in the history of both Commodore and Falcon, Commodore's has been recalled on more occasions.

Already being exported, isnt it?
I don't see why they would have 2 NA V6 engines..
Twin turbo sounds more familiar.. come to think of it
It isn't being built at Fishermans bend yet. They will start production in Australia at the end of the year, when the new engine plant is finished.
The Cadillac CTS that also has the HFV6 (3.6ltr) engine hasn't even been released in the states yet, so like I said, Australia wont be seeing it for at least another 8 months.
They could easily release 2 NA V6'ers. The high-end HFV6 to target the market the SC V6 did, and a lesser spec'ed model to go into the Executive range.

I don't think you understand.
General Motors have developed a new V6 engine. The HFV6 190kw (3.6ltr) is the top of the line V6 in this new range. Kinda like having your GEN III, GEN III LS1, GEN III LS6 etc... Same block, with a few changes.
The reason the HFV6 190kw wont be in your Commodore Executive is for the simple reason of cost.
Jealous? haha, keep 'em rolling child.

I'm guessing it'll be something like;
VZ September/October 2004
VZ II June 2005
VE w/ New V6 October 2005.
Lets not forget, nearly everything that's been said in this topic is speculation. A lot can change between now, and when they actually do release it.

I like Toyota's. Which are the no 1 sell of car in Australia. Followed by Holden. Then Ford is 3rd.
To think I wanted to only post once in this thread. Sorry....

It sounds like your worried Holden might actually have a V6 capable of giving the Barra a whopping. It's all good and it's not gonna impact you personally, so lighten up mate!
It's just the evolution of engines, and god knows the Ecotec is due for an upgrade!.
Regardless of whether it's a engine with potential or a POS, people will still buy it anyway. I dont think Holden would invest time and money into something thats no going to live up to peoples expectations now that Ford have raised the bar.

Worried? If I had a Holden avatar and nickname, would I still be worried?
I'm simply telling you what I know (true or not), so if you're going to turn this into some sort of Ford vs Holden argument, what ever - you can go join the rest of the little children.

LOL I am interested in no such argument, sorry.
I was just saying your comments appeared to be speculation, along with the other guys, nothing more. So before giving them a hard time about what they have posted, take a look at what you wrote yourself. Same sh1t different smell.
If you have a Holden nick and avatar, well I honestly couldn't give a rats arse!. It's not going to wreck or make my day. LOL.
No offence was ever intened!

I wasn't giving no one a hard time. Only the little dikheads that deserve it.
But you're right, it is all bullsh1t. Holden probabaly don't even know what's going on themselves.
At the end of the day, Falcon or Commodore, I'd never buy one new. Regardless how good they may be compared to each other, they're still second class compared to Euro and Japanese cars.

07-07-04, 10:55 GMT+10#67 LOL yeah it's a bit like that hahaha.
The value new cars lose after 12 months is incrediable, so I can see why you'd never by a new car, either would I. LOL $55K would get ya a SS or XR8 but geez thats a lot of money for a car. I think most Australians are reluctant to purchase anything other than Holden or Ford, which is a shame coz their is some amazing cars out there.

What do you mean Holden is struggling with the VY? Sales have barely changed from the VT/VX days, maybe down just a fraction. The VY has significantly outsold the BA every month since release, except September 2003 when Ford sold a mere 20 something more cars.
I think Holden has done very well with the VY.

Ok so whats your point?
This thread will turn into Ford v Holden because of the immature statements you are making.

Maybe you should read page 1 & 2 before commenting yourself.

I think Holden has done very well with the VY.
The amount of sales doesn't make a car any better (or worse).
My point is, if a car manufacturer needs to release models so close to each other, obviously something isn't right?
Something that's built with half decent quality and technology shouldn't need to be updated every 6 months or so. We're talking about $50,000 cars here, not some cheap heap of **** (or are we?).
Don't cry to me if you can't take some criticism.

07-07-04, 23:15 GMT+10#73 351 is right about there being different 'levels' of V6's. They are however, all to be based on HFV6. Don't ask me what the differences are, you can look through your motor mag archives for that!

I never said this car is better than that car etc... All i'm trying to say is that Holden IS NOT struggling with the VY as you seem to think.

6 months? The VY was released in August 2002! The time frame for the updates seems pretty normal to me.
VR Aug 93 - VRII Oct 94 = 14 months > VRII - VS = 7 months
VS Apr 95 - VSII July 96 = 15 months > VSII - VT = 14 months
VT Sep 97 - VTII Jun 99 = 21 months > VTII - VX = 11 months
VX Aug 00 - VXII Sep 01 = 13 months > VXII - VY = 11 months
VY Aug 02 - VYII Sep 03 = 13 months > VYII - VZ (Due Sep04) = 12 months
Holden's sales success and excellent resale value speaks for itself. They must be doing something right?

Don't know where you're getting your info from but I know for a fact that:
1. HFV6 production began at FISHERMANS BEND in LATE 2003 for the export
markets
2. HFV6 will be in the VZ on its release in Aug / Sep 2004

They started making the new HFV6 Engine Plant in late 2003, not the actual engines themself.
The Cadillac CTS is the first car in the world to feature the GM HFV6, and it's being released in October.

Yeah true true. But what do you care mate? You'll never be able to afford a new car anyway, especially when you're on the pension.
