put them in last night, got more clearance.
the two nuts you need to hold down the ball joint on your gaurds asre exactly the same as the 3 nuts on your strut towers!
grabbed em from a wreckers for 0$

I have the VR ones, and drilled a couple of new holes - bonnet sits fine with them too.

vb-vl ones seem easier, no drilling, just unbolt four bolts and screw the four new ball joint bolts in - piss easy.
whilst i was there i painted my rocker cover ripple red, painted cross over pipe, airbox and zorst manifold cover in chrome - great little spiff up of the bay if you ask me!

A mate of mine is wrecking a VN wagon, is it possible to use the struts from that or atleast the ball joints? Also with Falcons they only use one strut, I take it that one strut won't be enough to keep the bonnet up or is there any Holden struts out there which can?

- chrome paint from autobarn. about $10 bucks
- need to pull off the crossover pipe and metal pipe, plastic bend off turbo etc.
- rocker cover comes off, its abvout 10 screws, you may need to replace the gasket if its worn.
- piece of piss to paint the rocker cover, bought the ripple effect paint from autobarn, also about $12 a can (you dont really need to prep greatly, as the paint has a rigid, ripple effect anyway)
ill get some pics up shortly.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to use VN struts and ball joints because mates got some sitting in his workshop, I just can't test them out at the moment, I heard they are shorter then VL ones so if that is the case is it possible maybe to jump a hole closer to the windscreen on the quarter panels? I rang some wreckers and they are asking for over $40 for a pair of struts which seems a tad harsh.

VLishes, Those struts are too long if you move them up one hole, the bonnet wont close then, you would have to do what platinum said and drill new holes.
Took my struts back to the wreckers yesterday after I asked for VB-VL wagon struts and they gave me the shorter ones, was going to try moving up one hole but after measuring could see they wouldn't work, its much better with the right ones.

OK I got some struts, just need the balls joints, my question is tho that the vr/vs balls face inwards and the wagons ball joints face upwards, does it matter which way it's facing between these two? Also you's reckon the VN ball joints are the same as the vl's?

i can probly pick some up for you @ cwreck if ya want mate, thats if theres none in SA.
Vlishes: you can use either vb-vl or vs ones - it doesn't matter, as the connection on the strut will fit either way.
trust me.

That'd be awesome if you could, grab all the appropriate parts, and send em to me, I'll pay for pastage and all that crap, I'm just really busy and don't have time... I can install myself, just finding them is the consuming part.. let me know

Hey, I am going to cwreck tomorrow if I have time, I rang them up and they said $2.50 for VL ball joints and $3.50 I think for VR/VS.
Any ideas on who would sell front console pockets as a seperate unit?
