The Executive name was an option pack on the SL model that featured two items and they were automatic transmission and power steering. You will not find an executive with either of these two items missing. For those that mentioned Aircon, it was an option even on the Berlina model and only appeared as standard equipment on the Calais model. Corsa

If it has 15/16 then the rear discs will be non factory. I think the Execs were all Series 2. Not sure though. I have the Genuine holden service manuals and they only state SL, Berline, Calais. No mention of execs. An easy way to tell if its S2 is if you have black outside door handles. Series 1 has chrome which i much prefer

Executive was available accross the entire VL production run and was first seen on the VK model. As i mentioned before an Executive is only an SL with the power steering and auto trans fitted together as a package. Corsa

yeah, the rear discs will have been fitted later if it has a 15/15 master.

Your car is a Holden Calais Sedan From the factory it was equipped with the Turbocharged Nissan 3L RB30ET producing 150kw at the flywheel. It was produced in 1986 at the Adelaide plant with a serial number of 16787 Does anyone know how to find out what serial calais started at? Or are they just mixed in with all the other serials?

Your car is a Holden SL/Executive Commodore Sedan From the factory it was equipped with the Turbocharged Nissan 3L RB30ET producing 150kw at the flywheel. It was produced in 1987 at the Adelaide plant with a serial number of 23114 That has definately eased my mind. after having paid $5000 for a VL Exec, if i was to find out that it was an N/A conversion i'd be pretty pissed... I was fairly sure that it was original tho... only thing that played on my mind is that the badges on the boot went in this order Holden, Turbo, Executive.. I thought that it was supposed to be Holden, Executive, Turbo or just Holden, Turbo. Oh well im a happy boy now.

I think all the models serial numbers are mixed in together. Hey Ol86VLCT, I see your calais s/n is 16787. My VL Calais Turbo s/n is 16999 and it was built in july 1986.

Ahhh. I wonder if holden would release build info on the VL's? Also has anyone ever tried to get info from holden on their own car, ie the orig build sheet thats under the carpet - is this info still held by holden?
