Before I got my VL I had a VC turbo. It had twin carbies, forged Arias pistons, roller rockers .Yella Terra head,in cabin boost control(mechanical/air)Turbo cam, regraphed dizzy.T3 with 1.06 housing. In 1983 it was fairly unusual especially with the 3inch pipe.Boost was upto 19psi with water inj.On the same dyno on consectutive runs on 13psi it was 50hp more at the wheels than a VK Grp A

There was a 202 turbo made from factory and it was on a UC Torana one of the last engines for toranas made. they meddled around with that before stopping torana production. only 200 made i think

ive spoken to one of the engineer/test drivers from back in the VK days (he still works for them now but not as a driver, just an engineer), and he said they twin turbo'd a VK V8 with plans to make it a police pursuit vehicle!

Why bother where a jap rb30 can be had for similar money and is as turbo-able as can be. In standard form its so good, the only thing changed on the VLT motors was the pistons (lower compression only), cam and a few ancilleries (slightly higher flow oil pump and the nessasary water/oil lines for the turbo). Head, blocks, cranks, conrods, valves etc, all the important stuff is the same. You would be foolish not to follow the trend, but i can understand if you want to be original in a show car etc. Yeah there old and etc etc blah blah blah With the right bits N/A they will make over 300hp. There used to be one kicking around that was about 380rwhp turbo charged... It was in a LJ 4 door from memory. Not bad for an old motor.

There is one over here in Perth (202 that is) with 512 RWHP in a Torana. http://www.zapsrat.com.au/news52.html Winners for the day: Leon McGinnes won 4 Cyl n/asp with 113hp from his Datson 2.0lt with twin webbers Mathew Payne won 4 Cyl blown with 309.3hp from his very tidy Nissan 200SX John Cowper won 6cyl n/asp with 212.1hp from his Falcon XR-6 Rick Matson won 6cyl blown with a huge 563.1hp from his RB26 powered Skyline Simon Travaglini won 5.0L V8 in his wife's Falcon 302 with 293.4hp Ben Norton won Small Block V8 in his huge 378 Ford Cougar with 451.0hp John Farone's gorgeous black RT 440 Charger won Big Block V8 with 664.8hp Eddie Tassone won Blown V8 with 1220+hp from his small block V8 VH Commodore Charlie Laurendi won LP gas with his tidy new Falcon 250 Michael Holisler won Holden vs Ford Factory Cube with 500.8hp from his Commodore 355 V8 Bazza was hot in his VU Malloo Ute with 430.4 to take out Holden vs Ford EFI Factory Cube The Rotary Blown trophy went to Matthew Korbosky in his Turbo 13B Series IV RX-7 with 202.0hp Notable performances came from a ferral blown 454 HQ Ute that thrilled the crowd with several wild 500hp runs, and the sleeper LH Torana turbo red motor 202 that stunned everybody with a 512hp run. [/B] The annual dyno event is an important fund raiser for the Zap's Rat team, and contributes to the ongoing maintenance required to keep the Top Doorslammer a competitive car in the ANDRA and local competitions it competes in.

sorry to dig up an old thread but was googling turbo kits and this came up. some have said they see these turbo kits in the trading post sometimes. just wondering if anyone knows where one of these kits are being sold now? preferably in the brisbine region?

turbo 202s were bought out in kingswoods, toranas and vb-vc pretty tame setups stock but that kind of power was pretty big for that era, specialy considering its from a 202! the kits are a garret stratta kit that arent made anymore but they pop up on ebay occasionaly. if your looking at running any more 10psi id look at going custom exhaust manifold and VK efi manifold so you can run a cooler, as the stratta kits are draw through. if youve got a red engine may as well upgrade to the 12post head so the VK efi manifold could be used. the ol 202 can be made to handle quite a bit of power and boost even without forged pistons! the 202 in that LH torana above is running somthing like 27psi and the red torana in perth that is running 9s is running 25psi! the LH has some custom oil system mods and some trick water jacket mods to stop water leaking into the cylindar. all with acl bearings and ACL race series pistons, stock crank and rods (same bottom end as me )and yella terra head, nothing too hekitk! heres some info i found a while ago on the CDT packs, pretty interesting considering its from the 70s! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

mmm as unique as a factory turbo 202 is....its nothing special once u get past the manifolds and turbo. the carby isnt big enough to support much power, and the manifolds wont support an intercooler unless u hack them up lol so your left with a standard low comp 202... may as well start from scratch! ill be ditching my manifolds and using a custom exhaust manifold with a 4 barrel inlet manifold still using the GRA t/b though....see how it goes lol so my manifolds will be up for sale shortly Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
