my car has a tacho, velour trim on the doors, different centre cosole from sl and different seats from sl but is badged as an sl. But mine was a 'limited edition'. Have you heard of these?

An SL is the same as and executive , the only differnce was that AC and Power was standard on the executive, thus making it that bit better than the SL, though they never bothered to make an executive badge for inside on the tacho, as they both had the same dash. Though some SL were optionised with the AC and Power making them exactly the same as the executive apart from the badge on the boot lid.
I doubt whether that made any sence but as far as i know thats the way it worked but dont trust me i was only a 2 years old when the last VL rolled out LOL
Also I have question it may be off the topic a bit but i want to know, did the Calais or anyother VL for that matter come out with the red interior like the director?? As i have never see one with red insides :?:

Yeah jordy ive heard of this but never seen one with this red interior, i look in the tradingpost a fair bit and never come across one, so must be a bit to the rare side
OMG what is happing to me i was just out and drove past the loacal used car dealer and what do i see a nice stock VL Calais so i stop and have a quick look it was the dark red colour, and you guessed it red insides at first i was like sick yuck dirty, i sit and look at it for a while kind of grew on me it was the first one that ive ever seen in red, so i was wonding red inside means you should be able to have red leather, was their red leather as an option as this one was just vinal.
Just wondering if their was a red leather option???
anythings possible with holden ?? who knows, unless both cars had been broken into or been in smashes and replaced with executive parts??
i would have no idea :?:
it was an option on them, my parents Berlina, doesnt have power mirrors, or air con or power windows, so yeah its all optionable, from what ive learned
I think mine is an SL. It has light in the boot and lid on centre console though... Its got black door handles also. Its an 88 model. I thought it was an SL, but on the rego sheet i got i giv ethem the VIN number (i think) and it now says "VL BERLINA" on the rego form.. So i dunno...?
Black handles means Series II, which is consistent with being an 88 model. Light in the boot? they all had boot lights Lid on the center console isnt normal for an SL or exec tho, but its not hard to add .. added one to my exec. Youd definitly know if your car was a berlina I think ..

rear interior lights, carpet in the boot, bonnet heat resistant lining, full centre console with lid. Light in the boot as well.

Yeah i thought they all would have lights in the boot, but earlier on in the thread someone distinguised it as an identifier... so i did too
Sorry. Should have thought about it better. Im at work and busy...

I have an 87 N/A 6 I picked up some ohh 2 or so years ago, and it has SL on the dash, Exec on the back and after checking the VIN if those codes are correct then its actually a Berlina! 8)
Apparently there was an option with the vl's known as a 'Power Pack' which enabled the buyer to choose varoius options within the car, ie pwr win/mirrows upon purchasing the car from varoius dealers. :|
As for the black handles and varoius other apparent distinguishing features...who realy knows...I dont think i've seen a VL with all the EXACT features as listed on web sites and manuals to class it as exactly an sl or exec, etc....
