Did you put an extension on the radiator neck when bleeding it? Gives less chance of an airlock when bleeding the system of air.

Nah i didnt mate just went and gave that a shot but it seems like the thermostat isnt opening or the radiator is blocked because when it gets to running temp the water in the filler neck (bottle) doesnt suck down so it seems as if no coolant is circulating but the car temp doesnt go above the 3rd bar. But blows white smoke when it reaches the 3rd bar. Really pissing me off because i havent driven it in 5 months now i go to register it and something is wrong. Also in those 4 months i was away i had my dad start it once a week and let it idle for 15-20mins.

Doesn't sound great. Are you using oil? Or is the oil milky?

It was a little milky under the oil cap but not on the dip stick and once i wiped the oil of the oil cap ive ran it a few times since and hasnt gathered anymore milky stuff. Ive removed the radiator and jammed a hose down it but it seems fine but im gonna get it flushed and checked anyway. My mechanic said if its really thick white smoke its more likely to be burning trans fluid but ive pulled the breather of the back of the plenum and cant see any sign of it sucking up fluid. I find it strange the rad cap wasnt hot when the motor was at full running temp even the tank on that side was only warm. hopefully getting the rad checked out fixes that problem. It never blew white smoke before i went away and it hasnt really had a chance to overheat. But it only blows white smoke when the temp hits the 3rd bar on the gauge which makes me think its a cracked head so im not to sure what to look at next. I cant really bothered ripping the head off if i dont have to.

Sure Dan told you already, either way 245 is a big ask for a 7 inch rim, will look dork and rub.

It was a hairline down the cam tunnel from cyl 2-6. Didn't get hot enough to expand until at complete operating temp. Is there anything thick looking in the radiator fluid? ---------- Post added 07-12-12 at 15:13 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by NZ_bt1vlt [View Post] Wanting to put wide tyres on back bt1. Can someone clear this up for me. Been told by a performance shop that you shouldnt use a k & n panel filter in the air box as the oil in the panel filter itself stuffs up the reading in the afm, as the afm bolts onto the air filter box. There for when the turbo sucks air thru the filter the air + oil off filter gets to the afm and air keeps going to turbo but oil sticks to wire in the afm and gives computer false readings. This is only what i have been told. Guy recons use a standard paper panel filter. Cheers Jason

the afm has a funtion on it where it burns any contamination from the wire from the turn of key. heats up the wire to so many degrees to burn off oil etc. You can also buy a afm spray that cleans off that oil. mainly only when the filter is new that the oil comes off it. ive always used them and hadnt had trouble with them. But by all means if your not keen use paper one, you wont see huge agian from your stock set up running K&N anyway.
