04-10-12, 20:10 GMT+10#81 My car just made 308rwhp on 8psi with a gt42 with a .91 rear housing indy blue injectors and I also had full boost by 3800rpm with the short drive I've had in it I love it and I don't have a problem with the lag.
I definitely wouldn't use the turbo with a manual gear box with a turbo this big but I think as long as you try your hardest to keep the lag down with the choice of intercoolers , piping , cams, inlet plenum, exhaust manifold and system, head work ,ignition system and matching up your stall speed you can definitely create a monster of a motor.

Personal opinion a 42 on a rb street use is a little to big, 3800 is fairly laggy bud. Just my thought.

Its all relevant to the revs the engine makes power too as well though. Mines all in at under 4500 and makes power all the way to the limiter at 8500. Mine isnt a street car though.

8psi isn't where the turbo is efficient though. Once you crank 20+ psi in to it it's not going to make full boost by 3800rpm.
What do you revs yours to?

7500rpm... That last tune was just the run in it goes into the workshop on the 17th for a retune with new injectors.
I was trying to make the point that the turbo wasn't in its efficiency range yet but in saying that I probably shouldn't of posted anything until the race tune was done be because like you said the turbo wasn't efficient yet so once it is retuned I will repost the results with the dyno print out.
But to me I think it's responsive and I guess at the end of the day if your happy with the response of your car that's all that matters .
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

09-10-12, 12:50 GMT+10#86 There is no comparison really...If you're going 42 you obviously have completely different goals than if you were to go GT35. There are also plenty of options in between in the Precision range and im sure BorgWarner as well that would retain a good level of streetability while still being capable of making enough power to run just about anywhere in the 9 second zone...
People just don't do enough research when buying a turbo because all they've read about for the last 10 years is t03/t04 highflows, gt45's, t66's, t04z's and GT42's.
