bro this is making no sense. the rules im pretty sure would state that your allowed as many passengers as there are seatbelts... some cars obviously have 6-7 seats/ seatbelts which would allow them to hold that many, others wouldnt. its not like u could jam a sixth person in a vl an be all 'yeh mate rules state im allowed 6 people'
This is pretty much common sense i would imagine.. wouldnt you think?!?

01-02-12, 18:24 GMT+10#82 law in darwin is that every seat belt needs to be used, like being in the back of a troopy etc, where there arn't any seat belts, after that it doesn't matter,

07-02-12, 18:18 GMT+10#84 I was told it was a loophole which was patched after some accident, used to be you can have as many people in your car as you want as long as each seat belt in the car is used, im sure its much more sensible now.
TKR09S yours is the black karam car yeah? That would be sick to see, if i was a highway cop i'd pull over hot VL's to check their setups lol.

haha yeah and then say stuff like "oh you should do this you could pick up a few more kw," and then i'd drive off bangin the limiter in my SS highway car and go book a few ricers or dodgy V6 VN's with spools etc
Perhaps its better than this is just a fantasy lol

haha well said. I reckon the police should do an advertising thing to employ car enthusiasts that have interests in cars. Then yeah the cops would then understand what has been done dodgy ie: vn with chopped springs as opposed to a garage built car.

i dunno how they guna do it. there just needs to be more definition between what is 'dodgy' and what is done properly, and give credit to those who do do it right.
I totally beleive in defecting someone if a seatbelt is worn or a seat is not fastened to the floor properly, but when a cop decides to defect a car that has been built with safety in mind and is potentially built safer than it was from factory, just doesnt seem right.

There's plenty of definition of what's dodgy or illegal. Why would they give credit to people who build cars safely?
The thing is it's not illegal to work or modify your own car, qualified or unqualified. There's nothing stopping someone with no experience at having a go and making something unsafe even with safety in mind.
It's easy for police to pull up a modified car because the chances are that there's things in there that have been changed from legal to illegal, whether it was intentional or not.
Modify things to the law and get an engineers certificate. It wont stop all defects but it'll save you a hell of a lot of stuffing around.

08-02-12, 12:48 GMT+10#91 i just hear alot of people whinging theyve been defected for their cars but have certificates. Im not pointing the finger, but I am however aware that alot of people after having recieved their certs, go ahead and apply further mods to their cars, in turn voiding them.
As I plan on not voiding mine, I just hope that when mines road worthy, I wont get caught up in some rogue coppers bad afternoon and feel like he wants to vent his anger an slap a defect on my car even tho theres nothing wrong lol

08-02-12, 16:27 GMT+10#92 I dont understand why EPA/police are so strict on emissions gear. Yeah sure its all great when theres 1 million cars in the city driving around every day with lower emissions i agree with that, but when theres one weekend/sunday car with a larger turbo or running no cat the extra emissions on even a regional level would be so negligible...
