15-06-11, 18:58 GMT+10#95 Its hard to explain when you haven't been here...you half get used to the shaking all day long....but the large ones you never get used to....we get shaking all day long....you can always spot the out of towners around the place because they get excited about a magnitude 4 lol......we don't take cover for anything less than a 5 LOL we have now had 6902 earth quakes since September....I think its someone elses turn now...we have had a fair go I think lol....there isnt much of the CBD left now...every earthquake over 5 sends a bit more crashing down somewhere....I suppose it will be good again when everything is rebuilt...until then I suppose all we can do is sit back and ride them out.....however they think this could go on for years now!!! and today the GNS science people are saying we have a greater chance now of having a few more shakes over magnitude 6+ ..... believe me they are scary at that size...you got thrown off your feet and you cant move easily...and as some of you would have seen the force was that great on Monday is de-railed the 1000 ton Cranes at the port!!!!!!! watch this video clip to see http://www.3news.co.nz/Timeball-Stat...7/Default.aspx (http://www.3news.co.nz/Timeball-Station-restoration-in-jeopardy/tabid/423/articleID/215077/Default.aspx) if any of you get the chance to come down to chch let me know and I can take you to all the hard hit spots...its an eye opener to see it first hand...and to possible experience a shake yourself..the chance of that is quite high LOL!!!!

15-06-11, 21:55 GMT+10#96 went for a drive around chch tonight, shirly and aranui is all driving on sand, all the bridges are twisted and uneven. water from the liquifaction comming upto the sills in the car, fulton and hogan were out at 11pm fixing holes in the road. can't drive anywhere more than 20km/h or you get bellyed out. drove around the outskirts of the CBD and the buildings that were ok are now all fenced off, the only place that is still ok is the hospital. looks very very grim and miserable up there feel so sorry for everybody that has just cleaned up and now have to do it all over again.

16-06-11, 05:38 GMT+10#97 Time for someone to build a big business park out in Ashburton and slowly move the city elsewhere. This could go on for years, and I don't know of many businesses that can last years without any income

16-06-11, 06:34 GMT+10#98 True that something has to be done, 6 billion to repair it let alone loss of income for businesses

16-06-11, 19:58 GMT+10#100 The government needs to hurry the **** up and tell people whats happening.....and tell EQC to pay everyone out!!!! none of us are getting anywhere with them.....its not as easy to just pack up and leave for alot of people....especially when insurance and EQC are stalling paying out...
