yep, and you can build a big 12.1+-14.1 comp motor for it aswell!

25-01-09, 16:19 GMT+10#85 Few mates were testing it down in Warrigul with their race cars, the v6 commos and straight 6 fords, they made up 7 kw just putting the fuel in, now they are playing with injectors and putting together a higher compression engine to dee what benifits they can get from the E85, should be good to see how they go with the new engine.

23-02-09, 11:02 GMT+10#89 I need some new injectors so I may get Bosch Indy 1600cc injectors to try this fuel out instead of rochester 1000cc injectors.
Plus, with the motec - you can have a switch to change between a E85 tune and a 98 pump fuel etc.
Any other servos with E85 apart from hoppers?

mate tuned a r33 on it the other day, made 300ish rwkw on pump,
then switched to e85 and made 320 something on same boost, timing was increased till it reached mbt. Picked up 60rwkw!!! through the midrange though, got wheelspin...lol
cheers

No one needs to specialise in tuning this fuel, its probally the easiest fuel to
tune with, especially if you don't touch boost, add fuel till power drops, and then increase timing till the torque curve drops of(mbt), and you will still be miles away from detonation.

23-02-09, 12:26 GMT+10#91 I've heard the same...bigger margin for error. I put some in the s13 last night just to try it and it seems to agree with my car although it's not tuned for it, but my car normally runs hella rich

08-05-09, 15:17 GMT+10#94 Any other places apart from hoppers to fill up with this good stuff?
Hoppers is around 30kms away from me lol - by the time I get there and back 1/4 tank is gone!
Also regaring AFR or Lambda - what kind of AFR is acceptable on an E85 Tune? 10:1 AFR .68 Lambda?

The air fuel ratios are different with E85 so your computer will have it all wrong. The car has to be tuned and have injectors capable of injecting about 40% more fuel.
To make any car last with E85 you need to eliminate bare aluminium, magnesium and rubber in the fuel system as e85 is acidic.
E85 is electrically conductive where as normal petrol isnt, you need a fuel pump that can handle it and is safe, no arcs etc. This is a big drawback!! Also E85 has a ron of 100-105, not 110+ as stated in the title.
Using E85 in a petrol engine has the drawback of achieving lower fuel economy as more fuel is needed per unit of air to run the engine in comparison with petrol.
E85 also has less energy per unit mass than petrol leading to less power in a petrol tuned engine. To make more power in a turbo car with e85 you need more fuel and boost than with petrol.
It runs cooler in an engine than petrol because its putting out less power.
Have you tried it ?
