i wasnt really comparing to vlgod. my point was i know many vl's arent in race form that have went out and backed up "their" own time for ages. Pannic, Vas's old beast, Alans customers/race etc etc. Even KIL-351 did.
anyways im with Jim and VLGOD on this one beleive it or not.. I will be at the track the on Sunday and if the guys run some 7 second passes dont worry ill be there to crack open a beer and celebrate with them. Who really gives a **** how heavy the car or how much power its making. If it leaves the line and brings up 7 at other end - thats a massive effort.
p.s - yes i know you have already done it Jim but **** lets see what she can really run with the mph you have already recorded...

yea i agree, i didnt really mean it like that as in back up your time once or twice. Im talking 10+ and i only ran 3 x 8 sec passes, i think ive seen the rajab race car go 8.6, 8.4, 8.3 then 8.2 then 8.0 which is pretty good but nothing to the others

I highly doubt Alan is racing on Sunday at Heathcote... As far as i know, the pilot will be @ WSID on Sunday too so i guess the rumors are not true

First Of All, The Weight Issue
this is my Opinion and im voicing it, please if you think im wrong keep it to yourself, its my Opinion only.
yes lighter cars go faster and heavier cars go slower. and face it its drag racing, some people get on here and say "but hes lighter and he got fiberglass this and that". but thats the choice of the owner, and how they plan to build thier car. some people leave all the metal because they drag/street cars, some take out everything in sight, because they are drag cars only, and the owners have said i want to go as fast as they can and chase every hundredth down, and you know what good on them, everyone has the option of taking out weight and putting fiberglass panels on cars, and alumastars and light weight brakes(budget bearing of course) and to some people budget is a big thing, f-uck alumastars are $900 bucks a rim (not fitted), i would love to put alumastars fiberglass this and that on my car, but dont have the cash for them. but i dont care if somone else has them, good luck to them, i really wish them the best, because in the end i love watching Fast cars go down the track regardless of what workshop or who built the car.
i know its a long reply but here is the big point i want to make (not pointing out anyone because its few people) on the weight issue.....
but its when either owners or mates of the owners or workshop groupies get on and say yeah it ran X.XXsec @ XXX mph but its heavy that ****s me. and in the end the car has the fibergalss bonnet & boot. no seats, lexan windows.
thats what s/hits me. the BS
if its heavy and you went fast good on you
but if its light and you went fast good on you the same if the car was heavy
in end, its never going to be resolved
if anyone thinks about it, they pure fact that a car has been painted adds weight to a car, the extra body filler, how many coats of colour/clear they use. i mean 4 litres of paint/clear is about 4 kg also how much highfill goes on. you get a bog stock VL thats never been in a crash, then a bog stock VL with the same everthing as the first one, but the second one has been in a accident and has been repaired and painted some candy colour, ill bet you the the second car weighs up to 10-12kg more then the first one.
in the end we all (i know me) spend the $$$$$$ to have fun on the track, to see what we times we can do, to learn about the sport, to learn more about engines and suspension and how to go fast.
