Oh well, he's a man that enjoys his cars and if he can/could afford this one then good on him. See how many people on here are adequately covered - just because they weren't prepared for something they weren't banking on happening doesn't mean they are any more or less of a fool

he obviously couldn't afford it, hence the loan.
And i cant see any sanity in why the hell you would even go that far and NOT get insurance.. its madness. What if he crashed it, what if someone crashed into him with no insurance, what if a storm of fire destroyed it??
Now if this never shows up he'll probably be paying this back for over a decade and many thousands of dollars more on top of interest payments all for something he doesn't even have, this will seriously financially cripple him.
The loan for the car can be forgiven, not having insurance on it can't... and as far as i know you can't even get a car loan without full comp insurance? thats a legal requirement on finance anyway. I hope this is a lesson learnt for everyone. THINK PEOPLE THINK.
fark my runaround is not even worth 2g and ive got insurance on it!

Up front he couldn't no, but he could obviously afford the repayments which is why the thing wasn't repossessed. What's the difference between him putting away $2-300 per week to save for the same thing and by the time he gets it he's moved on, as opposed to taking out the loan, paying a little bit more and enjoying the car right away? Apparently the loan isn't the bane of contention any longer the insurance is.
Maybe he should have bought insurance before he tucked into some mods but as he said he barely drove the thing knowing that he wasn't covered. Coincidently one of the few times it leaves the shed it goes missing - I bet he wasn't banking on that happening. What's the point of getting up him about having no insurance? He didn't, the car's now gone and he's trying to get it back. It's clear that he knew he should have been covered and I'd say he's learnt from this

31-10-07, 12:16 GMT+10#86 yeah i hadnt driven it since the covernote ended, it had been locked in the garage for 2 weeks, i just had to drive it since the tyre on my other car poped.....worst luck ever that on that day it dissapeared. The very next day my mate crashed his 1 week old GSXR 750 one week before getting his unrestricted licence... worst luck

If the car was insured with 3rd party fire/theft, he would at least have gotten some money back to pay off the loan. You know what thieves are like these days man, its very unlikely a car like this is going to just miraculously resurface un-touched. itll be chopped up or rebirthed and no one will hear anything else about it ever again. Its sad but true.
If the car was insured, he would be out of debt or close to it. It sucks that he lost the car, and that to me would be the worst part, after having scoured the earth for my perfect car and jumping through the hoops to get money etc. I wouldnt care about the debt either in his situation, but on the same token i wouldnt care about spending the 1-2k it would cost to have the car covered for theft.
I hope he finds it too, but a whole lot of frustration and financial burden could have been avoided if he plonked down a grand or two on top of the 40 he borrowed to buy the car. its that simple.

17-11-07, 14:26 GMT+10#96 In this case I don't believe "Lucky" would be the exact word to use.
He should get Insurance asap as stated above but also, talk to a Sales person from the Insurance Company and try to use his story as a sales pitch.
Just seems he was the victim of stupidity and a joyrider.

20-11-07, 11:36 GMT+10#100 id be out buying a few lottery tickets if i was you mate...coz you are one lucky mofo. good to see you got her back...but very foolish of you to spend money on a few mods before getting insurance. and i wouldnt recommend taking out a 40g loan at just 19...especially if you're gonna go a couple of months without insurance. but hey...if you're finanicaly secure enough to do so...go for it...just do the right thing.
my mates 19 and took out 20 for a fairly new falcon...dumb kent done a few stupid things and cops took it off him. you done a stupid thing (no insurance) and the car was taken off you.
but lucky you got her back...hope to god shes insured now coz she looks like one nice ride. dont wanna give you a hard time or nothing...but i guess this is just one of those things you gotta learn from.
i got my insurance all worked out even before i had the keys to my calais handed over to me. i love my calais and theres no way i even wanted to risk driving it for the first time uninsured...or leaving it parked overnight uninsured...especially in my area...dont even have a garage here...just a carport that anyone walking by can see. no way in hell id risk it. a couple of grand is worth it for peace of mind.
but yeah...you are one lucky ****er lol. good luck with the car in the future buddy...thats one nice rx7...treat her right.
