Didn't say it would be. Going quick is more expensive than what most people think

Re: plans are stock stroke 308, with good rod bolts on the efi rods, with forged, pistons comp @8.5/1 with a balence, ect, turbo, cam by crow. efi heads with torque power singleplain manafold, 750dp squrebore, moded by jakes performance, with hat to suit, dizzy regraph, roller rockers, Garrett GT4088, turbo with undecided gate, trans with 18psi boost will be 400 or glide with 3.55 locker 10 bolt for now.......
after a good talk with jake you could set it up on a stocker but will probly crap rings in 6 months as some of my toys in the past have , but he tells me that if you clean up your bottem end make sure your crank is good, with some good berings, **** not sure how to spell these HYPYATECTIC piston and good rings all else being stock exept a modified carb, vn style heads and reasonable manafold a safe 10psi boost will last years, and with the right tune will make a good 500to550 at flywheel that would be around 420+HP@wheels,
i opted to go a bit better as a mate will build the engine who works for acl, and will supply most parts, and will be chaseing the 18PSI mark that should make a easy 500@wheels i guess time will tell and even if it only made 400 with boost id still be wraped

N/A V8 for me... Personal choice.
In drag racing land speed costs money, and the faster the et being achieved the equation becomes exponential instead of linear (tyres, fuel, transport, race suit, helmet made of unobtanium, parachute, annual inspections)
I wanted to run my HQ into the 10's cos I figured I cant quite afford to run a 10 sec car (yeh I know what that sounds like ). I considered a mild turbo setup briefly... but I am not the person who can do MILD. For me it had to be something on the edge for a total challenge.
So while I could have easily achieved my 10 sec timeslips with the turbo route and still had a mild mannered streetcar, I simply could NOT have resisted the urge to wind up the wick!
The scream of an NA V8 is what makes me tick!
The challenge of finding the next 10 horses is what drives me on... (and YES I am quite aware that with a turbo that could be the next 100 horses, but refer above to the money prob...!)

Sounds like a really good budget combo, should go alrite How much is Jake quoting you for this setup, he may be known as good with forced induction and V8's, but he's cracked a few eggs to make his omlette and theres numerous other workshops around, closer to where you live aswell, for a big build I would certainly be doing my homework first unless you want to get ripped...just my opinion (coming from experience).

Mate I agree, forced induction has moved forwards at a rapid place as people become more familiar with research and devlopment, what works and what doesn't etc. Not taking anything away from Jake either as he has proven himself with his car on several occassions, but then so has many other workshops, in the end it comes down to personal choice I guess!

a good mate of mine has nearly finished his TT 5L ute, it should all be ready in about 3-4 months. hes running two T3 turbos with seperate wastegates, front mount, custom manifolds, twin 3" exhaust and extractors and thats pretty much it, the motor is remaining stock. the fuel system has been beefed up and the computer will be re-tuned wen it hits the dyno. its expected to make around 280 rwkw on 8-10 psi. after its dynoed the auto and diff will be freshened up and a stall will be dropped it, not sure what rev range yet but once its dynoed he'll have an answer.
ill keep you's posted on what it pulls on the dyno but 280 at the wheels is not bad for spending less than half of the cost for a twin throated 355
the motor should survive on 10psi for a while but hes planning to 355 it and put bigger turbos on it once he gets over the power !!!!
