well thing was with the standard ecu the car had a huge lean curve when the thing spiked up which made the power jump right up and it sort of carried on into the top end the lean afr that is and when it was corrected it straightened the power curve and afr out but it still only reached the same overall power and torque it was just a bit wierd I couldn't imagine the tune before it was altered was good for the car its just what happened !

So what he complaining about??? It may not have made more power but by the sounds of it, its saved him a motor!!!

Yeah from what I have been told by the couple of tuners that I know have played with this software is on a fairly std car the majority of gains are not really in peak hp but more across the rpm range and having a better than std AFR range. Basically its a better curve and they claim better than std fuel economy. Obviously that will all change with bigger turbo's, pumps and injectors!!!!

see this is where i wanna go. run 440ccs and get one of the maps.i think its the best option for ppl with bolt on mods with highflows and or slightly bigger turbos in the search for under 300kw. also just read this page. http://home.aanet.com.au/nistune/ says $200 for the board, $200 for the software and license. so because i know jack all about this software, or any tuning, reckon if i gave the software to a local tuner he would be able to use it to tune my ecu? plus then he would be able to keep it because obviously id have no use for it. just a thought.

Nah that software would be your software and is allocated to your board. The tuners licence is 600 and that is a multiple user software. It is relatively simple software to use and would allow tuning realtime so you can tune it yourself on the fly!

Tuners licence is something a shop would buy. The individual one (One use only) is $200 I believe and would be something someone who wants to have a crack at tuning the car themselves would use

Yes but you could take in the software (individual license) on your laptop and ask the tuner to tune your car for you. With the advantage of wideband logging though and as long as you buy a wideband setup then it wouldn't be to hard to tune it on the street, particularly since you have a good base to work from.

Have to say, one of the worst things about stock ECU equipped VLTs is the habit they have of surging/wanting to stall/overfueling when you come off boost....horrible.

I still think half the ppl here haven't gone to the nistune site b4 they commented. I looked into converting to a delco setup cos parts are cheap as shyte and every man nad his dog got kalmaker, but when comparing to the nistune package it requires much more work. The only downside with it is your still using your old wiring and sensors which seemingly always giving troubles as is. Bang for buck it is fantastic.

doesnt it cost $200 for board then $200 for software then if u will be making anything over 200rwkws u will need z32 airflow meter which is another $300.. $700 all up and $300 less than buying a new microtech and u have limited amount of exprienced tuners.

nine months later and still no results on the remapped ecu....so, is it worth the effort or not?

I think everyone is waiting for someone else to try it out before they try it themselves. At this rate no one is ever gonna have any useful feedback.

I read somewhere that someone on the r31 forum had a nistune board and is making quite a bit of power. Maybe someone should join the r31 forum. I want to use see what the nistune board is like but i'm too lazy to investigate it.

i am a r31 member, i just emaild dark half, i am getting my VLT ecu changed to runn 440cc gtr injectors. no other mods, and see what i can push the standard ecu to. if that fail i will purchase the nistune board and see what my local tuner can do, but dont expect anything soon.

Well I did end up biting the bullet and just got a Nistune board put in my ECU and so far i'm mighty impressed. Works flawlessly, editing maps/ECU parameters is easy as you like and the real time telemetry is fantastic. So far I've only really played with the timing map (that's what was really killing my car) and rev limiter and everything worked perfectly. My laptop is currently getting repaired so I haven't had a chance to do any logging whilst driving (and I don't have my wideband O2 yet either) so I can't really comment on that but I should get my lappy back this week, then i'll try it out. Will probably go on the dyno next week some time and have a bit of a play, see what I can achieve My setup is only modest at the moment though: NA convert (high comp), cooler, 3" exh, std T3. I've previously had it dynoed at 140rwkw on 6psi and now that i've trimmed up the timing map I'd expect that figure to be better. Will wind it up to whatever the fuel system can support and report back. I got Nistune (Darkhalf) to install the board in my ecu and the service couldn't have been better. Product support is great and there is still a lot of planned development that on the software side of things (extended features etc). There is only one thing that I can see that would sway people away from this board and that's the fact that you still run a MAF (there are advantages each way). Personally, for what I want to achieve that's not a problem and for the price of the setup it's pretyt damn good bang for your buck. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
