02-05-06, 11:38 GMT+10#81 out of honesty, i would love to see this. Yes its a Ford built motor into a Holden, but i would like to see the peformance figures once the motor is in the VL would be very interesting to see, but no matter what, I still rate the RB30ET a better engine!

02-05-06, 11:45 GMT+10#82 What I dont understand, is why do people have a problem with a Ford motor into a Holden? VLs have Skyline engines and some use Ford parts, i.e XF Throttle bodies and some Holden V8s use Ford 9 Inch diffs.

02-05-06, 11:51 GMT+10#83 i think its just principal.. people are either ford fans or holden fans, if your backing brock at bathurst, your backing holden and it wont change.. 9/10.. i think its more of a loyalty thing.. dont put an oposing motor in your brand of car... if that makes sense.. i dunno.. but im a holden person, whether theyre made in aust. or not, i back holden so id never dream of putting a ford donk in a holden.. my 2c

True
I always backed Brocky at Bathurst, so that means im a Holden man.
Allthough I dont hate Fords, I still feel like a Holden man.
Anyway its not like this dude is putting the BA motor into a VZ Exec, it is a 20year old VL after all and its not like VLs and XR6Ts are rivals anyway.

It's the Ford & Holden hatrid thing always been like this back in the Early 80's Although Brock did go and race the Ford Turbo Sierra's in late 80's also had his own Ford Bussiness going like when he use to own HDT.

02-05-06, 20:20 GMT+10#87 lol first of all I have no doubt that it will preform and that it wount be as hard of a conversion as many close minded people think. When you are working with people that know what they are doing things become very easy when you actually think about it.
There is a guy on this site from townsville bought a minto original vl turbo 5spd calais. Pulled the motor and box out sold them and has put a 1jz in looks like it was meant to be in there. But IMO waste of money he could have put the big turbo that he bought on the vl and made the same if not more power or just kept his toyota soarer but each to there own.
I think that is conversion would have to be up there with putting a 13b in a vl should be left to the **** heads and bright Ideaerests. Make sure once it is going that you get a nice big penis and balls sticker for the front windscreen.... so that I know not to race you and get my arse smoked by a big turd ford :P

I'll disagree with one comment, I'm equally for and holden man. I'll own a VL calais one day soon, and would love any late model GTS. I'd also love a twin turbo VS ute. I however grew up with fords, my first car was a 351 XD falcon, my second a 554rwhp turbo 4 litre falcon. You can have taste and not be single minded, nothing from one badge ever made every single car the best.

welll..... using a 1JZ isnt that bad of an idea, its pretty much on par with an RB26 (an early version, lets say the R32 editions).
1JZ's can handle 250rwkw, just by upping the boost, the stock twins wont care, nor would the internals (which are good for about 500hp+?)
meh i dunno, but in the end ur probably right, cause the conversion wouldve cost-a-****load, but if i had a billion dollars i'd put a 1JZ or 2JZ in my VL ;P

you might want to get your facts right before you post comments like that
if you've ever seen an block from the 80's (say out of an xf) you'd know that there are a fair few differences between that and today's xr6ts

08-05-06, 22:46 GMT+10#94 There are about 5 different blocks from the 80's up. There is the early 250 crossflow, this has the cam in the block, then late which has different crank seal areas, then 3.9 litre EA block, my prefernce for turbo engines, then the 4 litre EB onwards which has a larger bore, which i think is the same up to AU, the AU then went to a differnt block with an enclosed girdle, which sits up into the bottom of the block like an RB engine, these had no provisions for camshafts in the block(OHC). Then a completely diierebt casting again for the BA engine with different oil system, cap design, and minor changes. The do however all share VERY similar aspects, such as bore spacing, very close bore sizing, a lot of the rods are interchangable, as are some pistons. But def not all the same.
