02-02-06, 09:44 GMT+10#81 I have had my cars wieght, and it is only 100kgs more than my old VL SL.
VL SL: 1280kgs
VS Acclaim: 1380kgs
In saying that, good work for being original, but personally, i woulda sourced a S/C V6, and put that in for about the same price + less hassles.

mainly, it was aimed at vn1986 who had a pretty unfair go at the poor guy over something that is completely his choice and helps him sleep at night. as i said, good on him for doing an original and, yes, *GOOD*. meaning, IMO, ecotecs have no where near the hi end power a rb20 has. im a huge fan of small displacement 6cyls because they usually sound awesome (IMO), are much more fun to modify, get better results and have pretty good mid and top end power. maybe itll cost a little more to maintain and perform, but for someone who has the cash, why the hell not! and i hate to tell you, even an ecotec, an rb30 or wateva, will never out-torque a v8 or any other large displacement per cylinder engine. does that make sense???
Let the people with different tastes in this world have their chance and their say. Everyone deserves to do what they want with whatever resources they have.
Sounds fair to me.
how the hell does a 2litre get better results than a 3.8litre to modify???
no replacement for displacement.

600hp turbo and making 240rwkw is a terrible configuration... bet it lags like hell.

03-02-06, 12:44 GMT+10#92 HAHAHA rb20 in vr, my my bros laser running on 3cylinder would flog it! why do people seriouslyu think these motors are powerful? the ecotec is 3.8 dog motor buts it HEAPS more powerful then the rb30 and rb20, the vr's are like 145kw stock or something, i used to own a vn calais 3.8ltr and it would **** all over my vl with advanced timing, CAI, k&n filter, exhaust and manual, the VN obviously was auto, but it would kick the vl's ass anyday. the vr must weigh atleast 1500kg?

03-02-06, 12:54 GMT+10#95 my vl is a 5sp, the point is if a VN can whoop a modded vl's ass, which has a 3ltr engine and is alot lighter then a vs, then how its it possible that he wont end up wid a slower car? those heavy commodores need a bit of torque to get them goin, torque being what the rb20 dont have... i think his car will be as slow as a camira when its done. Are you saying that a vl with an rb20 is faster than an rb30 vl?

03-02-06, 16:28 GMT+10#97 was the rb20 turbo? It must of been running ****! They make 150something kw at the engine standard, i do not see how your n/a 114kw at the fly vl could statistically stand a chance.
I mean sure the rb20 has to be revved to buggery to make any power but 114kw vs 150+kw is just to much of a difference for that to be critical.
I agree that the rb20 is no where near the performance motor of a well sorted rb30et in a vl but i would doubt an n/a vl rb30e would be able to beat a turbo rb20 powered one. Especially seeign as i am assuming the rb20 vl had an exhaust as you need to have one fabricated for the engine conversion and who is gonna have a custom stock sized exhaust fabricated lol

04-02-06, 11:42 GMT+10#98 hahaha airbagsvl you are a dreamer I don't understand why someone would be sooo stupid to believe that someone how would be going to undertake a conversion like this would leave the setup stock ?
A standard rb20det makes more power than a standard rb30et ! Obviously it isn't an rb30et but a 3.8L ecotec is about as lame as a stock vlt. The reason that the vl you drove with the rb20 would have been sooo slow would have been that the car was most likely still running 3.45 diff gears a fair bit of a no no when running this sort of engine... that is why Ged is putting 4.11s in so... I seriously don't think you have any idea about what you are taking about or what it will go like sooo... If you want to talk stock 3.8Ls up please leave this forum and go and join ****talkingv8superchargedrotarywanker forums dot com and save use all the insult to our eyes reading your un-informed no-idea here say posts !
