LOL seems a lot of bitching going on in here to the best way to settle this dispute is actually have a independent tester do the testing of all the manifold plenums on the same car same dyno , but how does one get hold of all the plenum manifolds that are out there for testing THATS ALOT OF MONEY TO INVEST IN TESTING in anyones langauge and not to mention the mere time that will be consumed in labour and dyno time otherwise bias is always taken advantage of but like one of the gentle ( duz360 ) posted before some guys buy things cause they look pretty and don't realize they have wasted there money on a plenum where a stock standard unit will do there job considering the horse power there engine is making LOL wish i had money to burn ADVERTISING is a powerful tool , brain washing people LOL We all like to see that magic dyno figure be EXTREMELY HIGH but that is not always the case thats why my very first post was " What is the best inlet manifold ( Plenum ) for a RB30T -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hi just read a few articles in here some amazing work people are doing to there VL's q1 . what is the best inlet manifold ( Plenum ) for a RB30T engine that produces say 1. 300 bhp 2 400 bhp 3. 600 bhp and greater ??? apart from the nizpro one that i know of are there other manifolds on the market ? who sells them ? what sort of money are they worth to buy ? and do u have pictures does anyone have some actual horse power figures to show " this way i could gauge up and see what direction i do take with one of my projects and not over spend on a plenum that i don't really need cya

was just an outright power gain? did it loose power anywhere in the rev range? peak power isnt what everyone is after

In a non competitive world.. each plenum designer would be more than happy to supply a plenum for testing and comparing against other manifolds.. but if we all knew which manifolds supported the most hp, and made the most torque, why would you need the other manifolds? JPC dont state flow rates, I asked Mark about it and he said cfm flow rates mean pretty much squat all on a turbo car regarding inlet manifolds. Most of the sports orientated cars like GTR and the like use a short runner base, and this is what he's done with his manifold.. since he built the fastest RB30 VL in the land, it's fair to say he knows what he's talking about.. IMHO runner length, plenum area, internal design.. I'd say primarily for racing you'd see the most difference, between my full custom manifold, power ported na, and JD custom plenum.. I'm not convinced one is better than any other, there are far to many other variables to take into account to analyse just the plenum itself. From all the testing I am aware of the SPP one supports the most HP.. bottom line. Oh and GTS1963 I think Cortina M is just another happy JPC customer Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

you always get what you pay for!! ive seen so many of these plenums (the home style ones) have so many problems one of my best mates just bought a named plenum from a sponsor / user on these forums . not talking nizpro, bresciani, rajab etc. - and he has realised that its the biggest load of **** ever. not only did the person who made it weld it up lazy. you can see the inside of the runners have been welded on angled. and they didnt even bolt up the plenum runners flat when welding it to the actual plenum either. so putting this plenum flat on a bench with runners facing down. from all the heat its all uneven, and has to take it somewhere. get it heated up again just so all the runners line up. theres a difference between something that works. and something that works WELL and is designed for your needs. my opinion. its your car. would you wash your car with morning fresh ? or would you use maguires or mothers quality soap. so why not spend a extra 200 or so and get nothing but the best for your car. dont give me this budget crap either. if your looking for a plenum, if you own a vlt. then you know theres no such thing as budget. and if your skipping out on this, then you deserve to have a motor grenade. this is the one main thing that pisses me off about people. excuse the french, instead of proper injectors and a ecu. they get 1 extra injector. instead of a proper keas auto, they go get some guy in whoop whoop who has never seen a jatco overcharge for a rebuild. Instead of getting a decent ecu which can be tuned in proper 125rpm increments they stick in microtech's which I wouldnt even run on a ride on lawn mower. I look through the trading post and am in fact discusted with some of the cars that are sold on there. If I was to turn up to someones house to look at a vl only to see they have stuck on a extra injector. or some cheap ass ecu. they can keep the bloody car. It just shows me what respect they have for it in the first place. the bottom line is - how much do you love and respect your car. - its simple - if you dont have the money to do it right. dont fricken spend the money. leave the car the way it is till you can.... sorry thats my winge. but its a winge worth having and hopefully if it can make one person here look back and think, ****e he was right. then I have done my job. do it once.... do it right...

I think he is just making a point and not refering to food just like your example to morning fresh.. And i agree with what his saying..... Standard plenum will do the job unless you are trying to achive huge numbers...

The argument was never over a standard plenum. because they are fantastic. and with that I totally agree the argument is over what custom plenum to be buying. And I know for a fact that you yourself Jimmy would never stick a heap of crap on one of your cars either. yes ?

Petros I agree with all your statements except about Microtech. They work and have been proven countless times, why spend an extra 2000 on a big name brand when it could be spent on a better turbo instead.

for the best value for money plenums see http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=46459 r31 - was a power and even larger % torque gain which is what i like the most, somewhere in the vicinty of 20%!!!!! gain it from mid range onards and lost absolutely nothing down low. petros - and what experience have you had with anything apart from and upgraded intercooler and auto ? microtechs run some of australias faster/quickest and most consistent cars out there with off the shelf computers. i dont have any prob's with the last comment though, do it once and do it right. Have a JD custom now because i got it for next to nothing.. Wasnt having a stab at ya Petros ISL33P 20% over what? Standard manifold? Thats a huge statement as their could be heaps of variables like what boost was the car running? Cam? Was it retuned? I assume you are not saying by changing just the plenum on a standard R31 you gained about 20% more power. BTW great looking plenums.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

20% over standard and have the dyno sheets to prove it. all on the same dyno/fuel/boost/mods, just one of my plenums compared to a std vlt item.

Not that i dont believe you but would like to see the dyno sheet. Interested in seeing what the AFRs look like with no extra tuning....
