i actually agree with you for once...
i remember back in 97 when i fisrt saw some concept pics of the VT in a newspaper and thought it looked horrid, then i saw one in the flesh... the more i saw them around the more i liked them... especially the SS, not so much the HSV's... and they are probably one of the most popular Commodore's to date, im over them, now that every Commo bogan has them and does the most typical mods like fitting a VY Clubby kit and cheap shit set of aftermarket wheels with a 3" exhaust that drones and sounds worse than the factory note... anyway i've merged from the topic...
after reading my narrow minded dribble above i have changed my views... Holden have alot riding on this new Commodore and i doubt they will miss the mark, like Jack said, the only "ugly" Commodore that did miss the mark was the VN (and thats my opinion, im sure there are alot that disagree), the VP was an improvement and they got better from there on... since then they have been spot on... getting better as they go on
i just hope they bring out a better 'sports' 6, after driving the SV6 i was a little disappointed... only with the power, it handled well and the paddle shifts were great, it shifted very quickly and was fun to drive... i just think it couldve had more mid range and top end... Holden should bring out a turbo option to keep up with the XR6 turbo, that would be a step in the right direction...
to have a 190kw SV6 (hopefully they bump up the naturally aspirated figure to 200 or something)
250 kw SV6T (or something to those figures, more if possible, just to get ahead of the XR6T)
and the LS2 in the SS (will they be using it in the SS ) that would be an awesome line up imo... sorry about the rant

From what ive heard from someone at SC.com, its going to be that good, that his Ford loving mate who hates all Commodores would trade his XR6T in for it.
So it must be some top notch gear then.

this picture is old now, but in case you havent seen it, this is obviously a VE test mule with a vy body strapped on.... looks like SS commos will be completely dual exhausts.... which I'm sure they're not already?

The Sydney Morning Herald and drive.com.au will tomorrow reveal all you need to know about the forthcoming Holden VE Commodore, the most important new car of 2006.
Tomorrow is VE Day – the day when The Sydney Morning Herald and drive.com.au will reveal crucial details about the VE Commodore, the most important car in the history of General Motors Holden and a car that will determine the future of the big Aussie sedan.
The most comprehensive details yet will be revealed tomorrow and vital questions will be answered.
What has Holden done to guarantee the success of this vehicle?
Why is the VE Commodore six months late?
Why does the next Commodore have less local content yet more global significance than any before it?
What makes it the most radical model in the nameplate’s 26-year history?
One thing is for sure: the VE Commodore is no light facelift. As Holden spokesman Jason Laird explained: “For the past three years we've invested $1.8 billion on local operations.”

I said this over at SC.com.
The only one that looks any good is the Exec and wtf is with the wagon? It looks like a retarted attempt at a mini van.
