Couldn't tell ya.. I don't know what they changed, but you'd think the turbo would be fine hehe..
Another thing I thought of the other day, how many of these new xr6t owners are going to get in further down the track and realise they've got 2 grands worth of turbo to replace when they blow it.

How did you come to that conclusion???? It is exactly the same box Holden has been using since 1999! Holden first used a 6 speed in 1990. Takes ford 15 years to catch up.

gmhvl6.
Your saying that Holden and Ford are using exactly the same 6 speed? EXACTLY the same??
And as for the second one.. Useless as pedals on a wheelchair unless it translates onto on road performance.
So you get beaten on paper, so it means nothing.
Geeeeeeezuusssssssssss

Sounds like wishful thinking to me...... I've seen XR6T's with 350+rwkw which can only manage 11.6.
I'm not such a Ford lover, I'm just so sick of people that can't open their eyes.
Too blind too look at another make of car and admit that yes, maybe this is better. Or yes maybe they have done a good job and give them credit. Instead, making up bull**** stories, bull**** figures and random **** - that in no way relates to the truth, but its said purely because Mr HSV cap wearing Mullet Dazza can't accept his prescious cars not the worlds best thing ever.

1. My eyes are wide open and I don't like what I see. Simple. IMO Ford does not deserve any of my credit and I am not going to change my opinion just to keep people like you happy. Besides, maybe you are the one that should open your eyes.... to me it seems that you've been brainwashed by all the media hype and ford carrying on as if they have reinvented the wheel.
2. I don't see anyone making up bull**** stories..... The pic in the opening post speaks for itself.
3. Don't stereotype me in this 'HSV cap wearing group'. I am loyal to Holden because Holdens have been loyal to me. I have owned fords in the past, as have a number of my family members and friends and they have been nothing but trouble. Doesn't look like things have changed much with the BA.
IMO the BA was just a desperate attempt to try and match holden. While they may have taken a step forward with looks and performance, thay have taken two steps back with build quality. I'm hearing more and more BA horror stories every day..... Not good enough in my books.

Geez bextor84 if you love fords that much then go to a ford forum.
Its a different box or internals ford totally re-engineered it and it has twin synchros in every gear.
I wasn't even referring that message to you, I was just using what you'd said.
1. I'm brainwashed ?? I've been trying to get people to have open views about things long before the ba even came out, alot of people don't understand that Fords had turbo's before, and that its not just new thing that they've just rocked up and now deserve credit.
2. The picture above, RACE1 is having issues with the reliability of his car. Maybe because its a family car and not something a hot headed RACE1 should be driving. For all we know, mainly engine problems could be timing, injection, electrical, anything. We're all going off speculation, and everyone thats against ford seems to be making it as bad as they can.
3. I wasn't stereotyping you, I was steretyping anyone who thinks they fall into that category.

XR6T and Typhoon both use the same block, the only changes i have read are the airbox has two intakes instead of one, stronger rods, larger intercooler, and more boost (9.4psi). anyone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong

exactly, and just to let you know there are tons of different versions of the six speed (T56?) and it has been around for ages, well before holden put it behind the LS1. At least ford were smart enough to make a good version of it.
with the whole ford vs holden (again) **** going on here, i have to agree with bextor. I am a true and true holden man and i hate ford as much as the next guy, BUT, that doesnt mean i dont recognise i good thing though. The new range of Fords look, and from what i've heard, drive reasonably better than the new Holden range. I think Ford have been smarter than Holden in very recent history, i reckon the XR6T will be the next VL. Just wait until the warrantys wear out, there will be ****loads of modded XR's around terrorising the street. Sure, the XR6T's have had problems... and a lot of people on here bag the **** out of them...but come on for ****s sake, problems? PROBLEMS? As if VLTs dont have their fair share of problems! AFM's, CAS's etc... As much as we all love them VLT's can be ****in unreliable cars, but HOlden were still onto a good thing. As in my opinion, so are Ford. Holden need to bring out a new turbo 6, and fast.
You know your going to get posts about- but its new and it should be reliable, the technology is better..
hahaha..Just thought I'd get in before 100 others do.

Well it's true..... Fuel injection, AFM's, CAS's etc etc.... were just starting to make an appearance in cars back in the 80's when technology was quite primitive compared to nowadays. There is no excuse in this day and age.

No excuse in this day and age? Those components listed are all electrical components, which have a shorter life then most mechanical components. In this 'day and age' more and more cars are using more and more electrical components. BMW is a great example, they are having an absolute ****fight right now finding auto elecs to service and fix BMWs in Australia cus all their luxury electric **** is starting to break. My mate has a 96 i think, 523 or 525 and just recently the electronic fuel guage went haywire, the temp guage reading like -70 degrees and **** haha, the ingition even has been stuffing up, the parking sensors...almost everything electrical on the car has started dying in the ass and his once luxury and reliable car has become the world biggest pain in the ass with hardly any of the features it once had working like they should. Its a driving intermitant electrical fault. Just wait... I dont know much about xr6t's but i bet they use a ****load of sensors and electrical stuff that will start sending owners insane all in due time. Auto electrics in used cars have always been a major issue and in my opinion will still be in this 'day and age' and the future to come.
