This is an awsome car. The front mount may attract the pigs though Dean. Have you used the temp gun yet to sort out your cooling probs.

RB26DETT - Its a jd custom plenum, which can be bought off this website, $650 with the xf throttle body, do a search.
Tim - Can't really start it atm because the starter motor is that *****ed, im pulling the box out this week and taking the pieces i've got over to get put together. Should be all in within a month. I'll bring the tempgun back over if you want. That radiator hasn't lost a drop of water so i'll have to fix you up next time I see you.
DustU - LXR830 would be $1875 from what i've been told, unless you know a way around it, or another way I could do it. I thought to have 3 letter and 3 numbers you could only have the predetermind combinations that they have, or am i misinformed?
I haven't really had the grill on to tell you the truth as I never planned to put it on, however I can now see what you mean about it looking abit untidy. Although I've got a feeling it looks worse because the number plate has been smashed up and is on a weird angle, neways, i'll get a pic. If I put it on i'll probs be to lazy to pull it off again and you'll all get your way :-P
Thanks for the positive comments, makes me want to keep going with it.

Yeah, my friend has had his on for awhile and it seems to be doing the job. Do you have something to add with relation to the plenum?

RB26DETT - Value for money I don't think you can go past a JD plenum. From memory the fellas name that makes them is Justin, he was easy to talk to, easy to deal with, it only took abit over a week to arrive, and I ordered two. One for me and one for a friend so yeah I would recommend it. Your right it does look pretty good aswell.
My sh!t gearbox will be out by the end of the week, then im gonna go and get some quotes to put it together. How long does it take for a shop to build a gearbox does neone know?

hey there im back, the torana motor of mine ended up in the commodore for a while, just fitting the 2 speed ino the vlt at the moment, looking to run this new season at the drags in the vl, then i'd like to transfer the whole lot back int the lx hatchback.
Notied you have the same plenum on the torana that i have, just wonereing about bonnet clearance, i'm assuming your running the rod shop engine mounts. how did you go for room fitting the intercooler and radiator in the same space, have to do some cutting i assume to move the cooler as far forward as possible?

Owwwwwwwwwwwwwww disappointing to hear the hatch has missed out on the mad engine although im sure it'll be right at home in the vl's bay, i've been told good things take time neways. You do realise though once its all the vl and running there is no way you'll rip it all out again. Bite the Bullet and buy a supercharged 350 for the rana.
Quick question, how much would it have cost you to set up the glide in the torana, including purchase pirce of the box and adaptor bellhousing??? I WANT A GLIDE !!!!
Yep, im using the CRS engine mounts. For the intake side of things i'm using the turbo bottom half of the runners and a jd custom plenum to suit and there is no dramas with bonnet clearance at all. The exhaust manifold sits higher than the plenum and it clears by a good amount aswell.
For the intercooler I cut two 3 1/2 inch holes either side of the headlights, and used 3" silicon 90's. It probs woulda been cheaper to use stainless 90's and just joined them with silicon but I had one sitting around so it was just as easy to get another one. Worked out well, no welding required and it takes about 5 minutes to take it off and put it on. Looks pretty good sitting out the front aswell :-)

Sinister: I'd prefer if it was a top mount but beggers can't be choosers.

To build a top nothch glide, The one i have is 1200 hp rated and done some 7 sec passes.) and adapt it to rb30(hugos make a billet plate, comes with all bolts and fitting instructions, so you dont have one of the dogy adaptor kits that use three pieces, it places the gearbox in the std location), plus crossmember(avaliable from crs), tailshaft, strong yoke, speedo cable, shifter, trans cooler and lines, oh dont forget a 4000 stall. Its a fairly pricey excersize, allow over $4000 thats for sure.
Looks like your hatch is comming along nicely, looks quite familia, especially now with the jd plenum you have. keep the updates posted cheif.

****mate, thats looks allright! I remember the LH Stock Car Torrie i had back out the bush. Was ment for speedway, but me n some mates justed used it on an old abandon speedway. Full rollcage, ol' red 202, most fun we've ever had off road.
I know its got nothin to do with your torrie, but I can see it being a car made for extreme fun
