x2 Fusion Encounter 15' inch subs in the boot with a custom-ish box in it.
such a mission to get everything right , box is slighty too big so there's no room for anything in the boot. tried removing the towbar strut? from the boot floor but its impossible since the nuts are welded on .... so just got to go back to the drawing board and make something up. goes all sweet though lots of rattle but solved most of it with card board since getting dynamat would be a tad bit expensive.

From memory the tow bar strut is bolt from both inside the boot, and from underneath. Pretty sure it just looks like the nuts are welded on. Get underneath and have a look!

wonders of what alot of wd40 and a mullet can do
next thing on the list is to sort out my lifters and get them quiet again haha
have to say im liking the sound of those 15"s, atm i have a custom box in the back of my wagon running 2 12"s on a sony 350watt amp, suprisingly goes well.
any way just wondering what you have done to quiet your lifters down, i have the same problem as well, esp when cold.

should run a more powerful amp at least 800watts i recommend you notice the difference and it pushs your subs a little bit more to there full potential.
but the lifters , havent done anything surprisingly , its loud but only when its cold , when the engine has had guts full they seem to get quieter. dont know if its the oil sticking to them or whether the oil is circulating around? unsure , might have to pull it apart one day and see whats the story! one thing getting noiser now would be the pulley's ? or water pump cause there's a strange knocking under the hood now.... :S
but thanks guys , ill have a look at those bolts and nuts cause all i saw were welded nuts and no other option but the angle grinder LOL might have to cut it out and chuck it away cause its pretty rusted and replacing it would be a good idea , as i dont wont the structure to bend or twist if i was towing something !

ha dude fix that wiring first,ya dont wana see the new turbo gear go up in smoke!
good on ya though, pod filter is an easy mod, making a nice cold air box will make it go even better, get alot of heat soak through the pipe.just my 2cents.

27-07-10, 21:19 GMT+10#110 yeah i was thinking about making a cold air intake box
but wiring is a must !! hahah just going to buy the bits and pieces and then store them away till i have everything , best to to do it right first then work on it for a full week or so installing then go from there
last pod filter ripped on the old box screws that held the box in place sucked in ALOT of dirt so i need to clean the intake
one thing i have noticed is that there's alot more air going in now , and that its missing a few beats when you rev beyond 2500-3000 ? but it almost spikes at that level , so would i need to make some adjustments to the AFM ?? to either make it leaner or richer ?

28-07-10, 17:39 GMT+10#111 yea prob will have to.
also as the filters are pre oiled they coat the wire in the AFM,thats why they stuff out.

28-07-10, 18:24 GMT+10#112 You shouldn't need to adjust anything. Thats what an air flow meter does. It might be faulty or as Kelvin says oiled and need a clean. Its a filament wire so be carefull. If its hunting on revs, is the Throttle body return still connected?

28-07-10, 20:47 GMT+10#113 afm is self cleaning, when engine is shut off the afm wire glows red (10sec)to burn any oil/dirt off etc

29-07-10, 05:26 GMT+10#114 i dont think its the AFM now , more like the cars starving ..... it needs either more air or fuel ?! was talking to my tech teacher about it , he use to own heaps of cars , but was telling me that he use to own a rotary and rev the guts out of it! but he said that his fuel filter was clogged and it wasnt getting enough petrol so the thing would sorrt of slow down then get right back up?!
the VL stutters in high revs but it gets there ...eventually LOL
did get a new battery which has helped heaps though ! starts everytime, bugger it costs so much for a battery , its like 1/3 the price of a decent turbo !!

if you run your car right down on gas and it picks up the junk in the bottom, like dirt, sand, grit etc etc,you should change fuel filter, and id say your fuel pump may be getting sad too.just a thought, has happened to me before.
