That there is your problem.
Im not sure how much of an inpact its going to have. What are we really protesting here? The fact that you get your car taken off you if you break the law?
These laws were created to show joe public that something was being done to stop young people speeding and losing thier lives. Are you hoping to get the hoon laws abolished?
I thought this was about easternats.

I agree with Katsa and BLK747 but Sergio and know wat point you are trying to make.
Lately all we have apeared to be in the publics eye is threats to the commnity. In Taking Easternats away and calder park witch they have all ready done away they are only going to make it worse.
We need to all come together out on our best behavour no number plates and rego stickers covered because that will lead to nothing but trouble. And try and get good meadia attention for once but this will mean for every one to be on there best behavour no excusses.
And wat the media dont tend to put on there front pages are things that we do well in and try help the community and other peoples lives a little bit easyer EG "CRUISE FOR CHARITY" if we can behave ourselves for such an event as that why can we all get together in a event to try to save such places were we can take out our much loved hobbies and for some of us the only thing that makes us wake up and go to wokr and pay our taxes like calder and easternats safely and under controled enviroment.

Chris (Katsa) and Brett (PROGMH), on the ball as always.
The idea has my full support. I'm up for planned meeting, discussion over a long table with politicians, whatever it takes.
Just be prepared people to answer the hard questions.

Well if the car was a highly modified car doing illegal things on the easter saturday, sunday and monday... then maybe.
You can't really blame them for deaths when the majority of people 'hooning' wouldn't have been at an event like this on this particular weekend anyway.

ive neen in touch with inflytmelb (michael of world advertising) basically we have the ball rolling allready.
As i said to michael this is not about winning or loosing, its about standing up for whats right.
We need a group of 10 to represent us.
Whos up, keeping in mind this could mean media interviews etc

lol, eye eye captain.
What are we complaining about here though? What is the real issue?
I'm hearing two sides.
1. Easternats closing - well we dont even know whats happening here yet, there are rumours that its going to calder and we will have a new easter event at sandown.
2. Hoon laws. I fear treading this path will lead to bad things. Try convincing the public that we arent a menace in our high powered cars... we've proven we cant be trusted over and over again (as a group).
The reason there is these laws is because the public complain and then politicians have knee jerk reactions and create laws to have the illusion that they're acting and solving the problem.

Sounds fantastic. I would be more than happy to help.
As for the issue, tackling hoon laws it is generally difficult to tackle because lets admit everyone
on this forum has some form of illegal mod on their car or has partaken in illegal activity. We cannot protest
for people doing 70ks over the speed limit and plowing into another car, but the fact that it is still happening
with the laws in place may make an arguement.
We atleast have a decent chance at saving easternats.

i think it would be better if a sponsor or someone who has supported eater nats for years would be a much better face then some blokes off a forum. katsa if this did get off the ground and lets say someone dropped a note on a few people looking to front the operation the media would strip it to threads if they knew what else people likes to be involved in

im in chris! and brett you need to be definetely in on this as you have good ideas and vision of this whole situation! and mick thank you so much for the offer of the meeting spot thats a great idea! as soon as we have all the 10 - 15 people for the meeting then we can hold it and have a discussion on what needs to be done and how its going to be done! for now i think we need all YOU people to throw some ideas at us and nothing stupid it needs to stay legal and in some way to show the average joe what we are about! without the media twisting our words and making us look like idiots like they have done in the past!

How about we hold our horses for a sec.
John Davison (Easternats Promoter) is writing up a proper petition for this and will most likely end up with a meeting where you can show your support.
He's not taking this sitting down.
At this time we cannot come up with silly ideas of cruising, blocking roads etc as its just not going to help the cause - more like add fuel to the fire.
Leave it up to the professionals that run the business. We will show our support in a meeting, Just as we did last time (If you were there). Join the facebook group - John knows all about it too.
A bunch of guys in modified cars is only going to cause more trouble than its worth and get the whole crusade nowhere, FAST. The media would strip us to pieces if they wanted to, so leave it to the Pro's.
Wait for the big guns. Show your support. Let them lead us and we will be there for this event. Dont go off on tangents about hoon laws and all the rest of it, focus on the topic - Easternats.

I agree! sorry guys but us "lil" people will have little to NO effect on this situation. Lets leave it to the proper people but we all have to support this 100%!!!
Give it some time and see if something comes up, if it doesnt, im more then happy to call john davison and see what his plans/ideas are.

brett, yes the easternats issue is a big one, but its only part of the concern, the real problem is now they take easternats from us whats next. For us to be able to do what we love legally we have to drive to heathcote and pay even more to participate and to watch. They wonder why we do these things.
Look i know there are some very serious people here ready to stand up for whats right and we would appreciate all the support we can get!
