we know the rules, we're trying to follow them, and we're getting ****ed... that's what this thread is about. don't like it, its simple don't open the thread and you wont have to read it. the rest of us however would like to have a discussion. back on topic, sending the office another letter, asking them exactly how they go about classifying a 'family car', what are the exact criteria that is has to meet, or is it just a whimsically made decision. because i'll be damned if a calais isn't a family car. we'll see what they have to say.

Probationary drivers may apply to drive vehicles with 6 cylinders or less that are: * turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio of less than 100kW per tonne; * turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio between 100kW and 125kW per tonne and that are considered to be a family type vehicle (4 seats or more) rather than a sports type vehicle. A family type vehicle is a sedan, station wagon or hatch normally used to carry families/passengers with 4 or more seats and is equipped with child restraint anchorages and does not include sports cars eg a two door coupe. As far as this statement is concerned the criteria for a 'family car' is 4 seats or more with child restraint anchorages so I see absolutely no reason why a CALAIS cannot be a valid vehicle. That to a side a Calais is more likely to be a luxury car rather than sports if you were to call it something other than a family car. NOTE: This information was not quoted by Ahmed's uncle's step-brother. http://www.arrivealive.vic.gov.au/in...y_if_yo .html (http://www.arrivealive.vic.gov.au/initiatives/safer_road_users/new_graduated_licensi/high_powered_vehicle_restrictions_that_apply_if_yo.html) Wankers need to stop contradicting themselves.

My point exactly. In my opinion, a smarter way to work out what we could and couldnt drive would be to get the old list of cars under 125kW/ton, and review it to see which cars are and arent considered a "family type vehicle", post that list on the vicroads site, and let us be on our merry way.

vic roads will not be satisfied until all p platers are riding little pink and white bmx's down the street. By the way for the people without a law degree here.. If the legislation states Probationary drivers may apply to drive vehicles with 6 cylinders or less that are: * turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio of less than 100kW per tonne; * turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio between 100kW and 125kW per tonne and that are considered to be a family type vehicle (4 seats or more) rather than a sports type vehicle... etc etc etc then that is the law, simple as that. any bullsht vic roads tells you that you cant drive your turbos or supercharged vechicles is just an 'Interpretation' of that legislation.

so with that said. would a vl turbo pass?

it might, it might not. the basis of vicroads granting these permits is for greater fuel efficiency. while a vl turbo would pass on all other grounds (eg, power to weight, family car, etc) it still consumes more petrol. N/A VL Calais: Fuel Urban (l/100km) 11.5 Fuel Extra Urban (l/100km) 7.4 Fuel Combined (l/100km) 8.9 VL Calais Turbo: Fuel Urban (l/100km) 13.0 Fuel Extra Urban (l/100km) 8.5 Fuel Combined (l/100km) 10.2 you dont need a law degree to work that one out cecco lol all we can hope for is for vicroads to be completely ignorant, overlook that, and give us permits based on vehicle class and power to weight ratios lol Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

has anyone thought of perhaps going to holden or the manufacturer of their vehicle and looking at the advertising?? it may pose a great arguement against it not being a family car if holden gave u a brochure advertising it as a "5 seater luxury family car", but i agree their just tryin to screw ya, maybe he didnt like your shirt?

I rang up vic roads asking about the excemption to driving a stock standard vl calais turbo. They said even if it it under the power to wait ratio i still wont be able to drive it! My vz sv6 is more powerfull than a stock 5ltr & vlt, when i told her this she she said, well then u shouldn't be driving it. regardless of what they say, im going to be driving a 5ltr when i get my license back in march. Why should i go by the rules if they dont seem to be playin fair with us.
