Sounds like the Newtons aint right to me. I seriously doubt an engine with only 146kW is putting out any where near that amount of torque. I've seen a lot of dyno sheets with very high torque outputs and I'm pretty sure that some sort of calculation is needed to find the correct amount of torque. There are very few cars that actually produce any where near that amount of twist at the treads. Here's a few... Audi RS6-426kW 650Nm; BMW760-327kW 600Nm;Ferrari 599-462kW 608Nm; FPV F6-310kW 565Nm; HSV-W47 375kW 640Nm...notice anything here??
My point is that the torque figure is wrong. Even the new hi-po diesel engines can't match this; BMW 535d 2993cc 6 cylinder twin turbo diesel; 200kW 560Nm. I know from experience that you cannot take the raw torque reading from the dyno as a real world figure.
Not tryin to sh*t on ya figures dude, but I've seen this time and time again - I know you can't just take the raw Nm figure from the dyno. I don't know how or why, but they always read a lot higher than they should - some mathematics or something is needed to get the correct reading. According to Wikipedia a standard RB30 had 114kW and 247Nm. I'm guessing that is taken from the flywheel.

any chance of borrowing one of the above mentioned cars to run on the said dyno the same day etc then we might be able to calculate the difference, all in the name of science of coarse PS i'd come for the trip down

Yeah that's at the flywheel, pretty much just guessing here, but I'm thinking the difference in torque reading will be because the drive has been geared down by the time it reaches the wheels, giving more torque and less speed. Makes sense to me, but that doesn't mean its right

^^^^ You could be right there, in which case you would need to divide the dyno figure by something to get the correct reading. Like I said before, I don't know how to get the correct reading, I just know that the above figures are wrong.
Haha i'll see what I can do about bringin somethin nice to the dyno day. I have, however, dynoed a brand spankers BF V8 ute and a VZ Clubby - I'll see if I can find the figures.
can we dyno a Trabant???
