Only the worst condition rim outta the 6 I have (incase I screw it up somehow although it will be pretty hard to). If I get that one looking good, I'll do the 5 I have for my car. (and get my bro to give me a hand ) Edit: Just spent the last 3 hours sanding back one of the rims. Still at least another hours worth of sanding to go. But I have to go to work in a sec It already looks 10 times better than it did before I started sanding em. Can't wait till I finish it Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

trying it now, done the first layer by hand(got machine lines off) using 180grit. don't want to do that again, will use orbital sander for others. when finishing with 1500/2000 grit do you use sander or hand? thinking hand

Don't use an orbital sander with that finer paper, just use a 1500 wet and you'll be right, let us know how you get on and post up some pics whne your finished

I used a wire brush attachment to get rid of all the machine lines on some rims I did recently, it saves your hands (I did the first few by hand) and looks better. Then as Larry says 1500 grit to smoth it all out ready to polish.

hi all, with polishing anything really, is there a difference between actual polishing compound compared to any metal polish such as autosol which comes out as a paste. if i was polishing a normal rocker cover would i have to use an actual polishing compound? CHeers

just a pic of my senator 16" i done last night i used the meguiars metal polish, little dark blue tub with fluro green lid, by far it is 1000 times better than AUTOSOL and MOTHERS, give it a try and you'll see! $20 a tub but hell it lasts for about 15-20 rims looks like a million bucks , and that only cost me about an hour n a half of work with the drill attachment Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
