Yea... but that involves jacking up the car and taking the wheel off - good idea tho - i may do that when i can be farked - would show them a lot better.

Thanks - and yea... thought i best put some decent rubber on it - otherwise the suspension and brake upgrades wouldnt be as effective.

I had the VT to VL adaptor hubs on there as i already had the VT SS front calipers and rotors on there. Braided front hoses were also already on there as i needed longer hoses when i fitted those calipers.
Replaced my VT SS calipers with new ones - put new DBA rotors on - Part numbers DBA040SR & SL (Front; VT SS spec) and Rear DBA016SR & SL (rear; VL rotors but slotted) Re-kitted the rear Calipers with new seals and sh!t Put new 1" master cyl on. Put new Bendix brake pads all round and flushed out all the old brake fluid and replaced it with new super dot 4 fluid... I think that was all.

Thanks... I have been trying to keep her as tidy as possible but being my daily driver it is hard to do so.

Thanks... And yea the slotted rotors and the new master made quite a different in stopping power. The pedal could be a bit firmer but i will pressure bleed it again in a few weeks.
Thanks for the comments all,
Later,

You can also buy them new from Supercheap, I'm not sure if they are $70 each or $70 for the pair, the guy didn't know and I was supposed to go back on a day when the supplier would be open to call and find out (they don't have them in stock, the model number is HC7). I didn't end up sorting it cause that was the same day that I found the bike that I wanted to buy.. no money for me! And I was talking to a friend of my Dad's a while after and he thinks if I had a spare one then it'd be cheaper to have them built at some sort of shock shop he was talking about.
I still want to do that.

15-09-08, 09:12 GMT+10#109 VS struts are either too long or too short, can't remember, you do however, need the ball joint thingys out of a VS engine bay. There is a good thread on this in the technical articles thread on this site. If you can find the part number or code for new struts that would probably be the go as most the VL tailgate struts are pretty much at the end of their life. Took me ages to find a good pair, and even then they could probably do with regassing.
Anyone ever had any struts regassed? How'd they go? How much?

20-09-08, 10:24 GMT+10#112 Was a fine morning here in sunny Hawkes Bay, and I took the time to do a couple of jobs on my work hack Berlina.
Had a set of Solex's sitting around so I put them to good use, and I painted the grille body colour (like its supposed to be) to get rid of that poverty pack look.

20-09-08, 13:21 GMT+10#114 Why didn't you fit the locks straight?
Would be unusual to open the lock like that i'd think..

20-09-08, 14:13 GMT+10#115 Due to the differing designs between the car and the locks (which I believe are intended for a euro/jap car where the lock rod runs vertical, as opposed to horizontal on the commodore) the locks have to be rotated 90 degrees to line up with the lock rod, Its not as simple as replacing the lock barrel, there is a fair but of fiddling around to get these to fit right.

22-09-08, 18:20 GMT+10#118 Thats because they are I managed to obtain all new badges and stickers for the whole car, except for the sheild badges, the rare spares repro is unaccecptable (wrong size, shape, color, finish) so I had to make do with re-conning the original ones.

23-09-08, 15:29 GMT+10#120 Got them from my local Holden Dealer. Weren't cheap either, and that was with a big discount from memory. was about 2 years ago now. You can touch the old ones up easily with a silver paint marker (or gold if you think you're a pimp) and they come up pretty good, but I went with new as its a fairly big dollar resto.
