04-06-09, 15:46 GMT+10#101 thanks misk..
just make sure u dont put too much heat in it wen welding other wise u will warp the panels n will need way more work to get straight again, and also make sure u feather all the paint to metal bits or u will get a ****ty edge... progress is lookin good man...just take ur time dont rush it n it will come out sweet...

04-06-09, 16:17 GMT+10#103 lol yeah i learned the hard way 2..
try weld a couple of tacks at a time n let it cool down it takes a bit more time welding but saves in the dolly work..
one more thing make sure u use etch primer on all bare metal bits before u primer...

25-08-09, 12:16 GMT+10#104 Those guys who have hidden their wiring. Where have you run the ECU loom through the firewall after welding up the factory hole down near the chassis rail?

25-08-09, 12:27 GMT+10#105 separate the loom in the cabin side then run the loom through the guards..
you'll have to extend/shorten certain sections of wiring

25-08-09, 14:24 GMT+10#106 I've done that with the headlight, etc wiring but the ECU wiring will still need to come through the firewall somwhere. I've got a brand new loom for my aftermarket computer so I don't need to keep any of the factory stuff

Trans tunnel, dude
Bring it out in the trans tunnel and run it up the back of the motor. No holes in the firewall that way...well, none visible anyway

25-08-09, 19:54 GMT+10#108 he guys
do you think its fiar to say that all of these bays look awesome mainly because when you straighten them and smooth them out you also remove the battery tray and that alone cleans them right up.....has anyone got any pics of really clean bays with the battery tray left there and not moving there battery in the boot
cheers Anthony

02-10-10, 17:57 GMT+10#111 reviving an old thread-someone said to push out that big dent around the left strut tower(below washer bottle) to just heat it up, then bang it out and use a little bog to smooth it. my question is, would your regular heat gun be able to heat this enough for it to be easy to do, or if you just banged it out without heating it could you somehow damage anything??

03-10-10, 17:14 GMT+10#112 I presume you mean the bit indentation next to where the p/s reservior usually mounts? You really need to use an oxy to get make it red hot. If you don't have access to one belt it really hard straight up to get the majority of the dent out. Lots of little taps will stretch the metal and make it harder to form. This is all we did with mine and it came out pretty well.
If you mean the bit the washer bottle screws to you can either heat it up and when quench it with a wet rag to shrink the metal or cut a cross in it and tap it in and weld it back up
This is mine with a couple of guide coats on it

03-10-10, 17:38 GMT+10#113 i didnt even bother heating mine up, just belted the sh1t out of it, shaped it a bit with the dolly and finished it off with some filler, still in undercoat but looks like it came up fine
