If any more get made up I'm interested. My fuse rail is still in perfect condition, but the one in my old VL melted and I know what a pain it was to replace.

Thanks, I have 3 or 4 units in limbo, one here waiting for confirmation
and 2 or 3 on consignment at an electricians have been there for a few
days with no f/back from him, so I'm picking them up in next hour or so...
So if you definitely want one of the 3 in limbo and havent sent me
a private message yet please do so asap and I will reserve it for you
subject to deposit to my account in next couple of days, my details are:-
bsb 306-051 Account 505-757-6
BankWest, West Perth
Let me know if you want shipment by express or registered.
Current price is $90 incl postage. Next batch will be at $110
and prob be listed on ebay, I'm getting busy with other stuff
so I cant chase interested parties that dont get back to me
in a reasonable time. So first come first served for any that
message me from now on. I only had 3 hrs sleep last night
and its a drag keeping things streamlined <sigh>
btw: To all those that have ordered and been sent items through this
forum I'll get to the feedback section (only found out about this
recently) and tidy up trader ratings for all. Oh and thanks to all those
who have already left trader feedback, I've got back to each of you :-)
Will have to wait, can't cough up the funds right now unfortunately. Will keep an eye on e-bay. A great idea, will definitely add on to my car as soon as I can.

Its funny how things go, bit like prelude to life "goes in bursts", got the
units back from the electrician as it happened he didnt know I was
coming around and he was fitting new relays to a guy in a VL sedan
who had a large stereo. I chatted with the VL owner and he didnt
even know the electrician could offer an alternative - bugger (!) than
the electrician was going to charge $150 to install *my* fuse rail,
geesh !
Have anything to swap, I'm looking for detonation sensor (couple),
oxygen sensor, turbo xover pipe, 12v normally closed water solenoid,
VL PS pump, VLT calais top half of inlet manifold - to name a few ?
I only have a PS pump but condition is unknown, I'm guessing it'll need new seals etc before using, to be safe and save an hassles anyway. Other than that I only have an N/A inlet manifold, both halves, still has TB, coil, temp sensors and a few others fitted. I'll ask around for what you are after, might be able to get my hands on something. I got other things on the car to do, like wheel bearings, tailshaft bearing and clutch slave cylinder to rebuild, don't need the fuse rail right now but would rather get one in before the original melts, as I said, it's happened before and is a real pain to remove when it's stuffed. In the mean time, I'm saving up.
Second but last now gone,
However I have 4 bare boards which I am awaiting those damn
elusive scarlet fuseclips, so if anyone wants one send me a private
message to put one aside or it will be a while before any more
turn up - I'm really busy on a few other things for next few weeks,
too busy to even chse other than a couple of people, so its up
to you folks - the hot weather is coming !
Cheers <klink>
Finally fitted mine, pretty straight forward. Found it was a pretty tight fit sitting the new rail back in, but no terminals were bent and the way it's sitting I shouldn't have to worry about any working loose. Only advice I can give others who are looking to do the mod, get a couple more of the yellow terminals. I have a few wires that are a bit too big for the blue ones, but I had to make them fit, this was by twisting the terminal over the wire and pushing down, which pushes a few strands of wire down so the terminal can fit over the rest. No biggie, but I'll be looking at fitting the yellow ones shortly, make sure it's done right. Haven't tested it yet, flat battery so I'll get to it today hopefully. Still have to chase the wire to the boot release button, it was cut off the old rail and I can't see where it's been moved to, have to get behind the dash. Also found my original rail was starting to get affected by heat underneath, looked fine on top, so it was worth the swap before things went to ****. Just need to find some more things to wire up now, the fuses down the side are looking a bit bare.
Just finished testing, everything pretty much went as the clips Mike made show. I'm on my own so can't test everything. One thing I found is the LEDs for the headlights, low and hi beam, didn't illuminate. I fitted the fuses and the lights themselves work, so the circuits are fine, just no indications on the fuserail to say the circuit isn't complete. I'll get a couple of LEDs from tricky ****y's and swap them over at a later date. Apart from that everything seems fine, everything seems to be getting power, car starts and runs, stereo works.
Great kit Mike, something every VL should have. Like I said, my old rail looks fine until you turn it over, then you see it had started on it's way to meltdown. Pics shortly.

All you need to do is swap the connections over i.e. there is two connections on each fuse so if led number 4 isn't working swap the connecters on fuse number 4. Everything will work then

I'll check that out, I guess it's possible the LEDs were fitted arse about. No real drama though, if the headlights or high beams fail the first thing to check is the fuse anyway.
Scotty, pretty simple and quick job, I only have the cheapo wire crimpers but they were more than adequate. I didn't tin the wires either before fitting the crimps, it was raining and I don't have power in the shed. An extension from the house would be too dangerous, and it would have stuffed me on the couple I dodgied to get them to fit. Those wires couldn't twist any tighter so the only choice was to let a few strands get pushed back, they're still contacting the rest and the terminal so shouldn't cause any dramas.
Cool, thanks Waughy. I'll get it fitted some time soon when I get a chance. I'll make sure i get some yellow terminals to fit before I start too. I have been chasing the wiring harness for the +ve terminal of the battery to the elec connector into the body wiring harness as I still don't have any fusible links in.

Thanks for great the comments
Re the LEDS, they are all round the same way and each fuserail is given
a full functional test before its shipped so I am "pretty sure" (tm) the leds
are all OK. The design spec I've been working on has all the positive side
power at the top and the load side at the bottom for symmetry the full length.
As spiritfc correctly pointed out, all you have to do is swap around the
two spades for the relevant fuse - you only need to do this for fuses
1 or 2 or maybe 3 and definitely *DONT* touch the others, as they run off
common rails. ie BATTERY - IGNITION - ACCESSORY
I'd strongly recommend leaving the fuserail LEDs alone and *not* taking
them out to change them around, its way too easy to damage the
board as its much thicker than standard material and the LEDs could well
be tight in position or you might be tempted to use a high wattage
soldering iron and damage the hole plating. So please dont do it,
its much easier and more logical to swap the spades around on the fuse.
Couple more fuserails went out this afternoon (Wed) and I'll email the buyers
their respective express numbers shortly and I'll get to the private messages
in next couple of hours, thanks guys

Hi,
There are 4 yellow (larger) shrouded spades in each kit and match
the cables on fuses 1 and 2 on my Calais VLT. It might be there is
some variation in wire sizes and I might add a couple more to next
lot of kits,
by the way, if you are tempted to get more spades I would highly
recommend getting the shrouded ones, they are only a little more
expensive and provide insulation - if you are going to be changing
things around it would be safer that way as any short can be
really messy if you forget to disconnect the battery...
Thanks for the feedback

Thanks Mike, I'll check out the kit and my wiring to see how many have large wires needing the yellow terminals there are then.
Also, a question for all, how much play did you have in the wiring in the fuse box after the fitment of the new rail?
