thats like me going on to say - "remove the 8 cylinders... and the amount of ltrs an engine has"
get real... ffs
yeah i agree totally where did that come from - i thought we were comparing apples and oranges but this- this is more like comparing a 185I 5LT TO AN AUTO GEMINI lol
a little under half the cubes--seriously i hate ricelines as much as the next bloke but that comparison is WAY outta line

How is that realistic though?
I could grab a GTR, and remove the Turbos in a jiffy. Can't exactly remove 8 cylinders, and decrease capacity at the click of a finger.

Why would you want to though?
Or is this just a hypothetical situation?

Hypothetical situation.
Of course I wouldn't actually do it, just using that as an example.

er yes and so could i... point not seen, okay?
anyways, my example is exactly the fk'n same.
i hate it when guys go "er wa wa u got little turbos helping u make power"
bah!
thats rubbish then i just turn round and say "well u need to have 8cylinders, maybe more, and more than 5ltrs to do anything half decent! fu*k you!"
like yes... how efficient, and intelligent...
lets use the R32 GTR as an example...
1989-1992 GTR (whichever)
dohc inline 6
2.6ltr
twin turbo
"206kw" (engine)
when brand new, 4.8-5.0seconds to 100km/h and 400m in about 12.9-13.3
fast forward to the NEW MILLENIUM, 2007 nearly 20yrs (give or take) later...
HSV GTS
V8
6ltr
307kw (engine)
and it only just does low 5's or if ur lucky high 4's to 100km/h and only JUST flat 13s..... and the manual is slower
meh
and to say the skylines are at an "advantage" or to whinge about them having turbos? bugger off!! even with the turbos they make less power for fu*k sakes.... the motors were designed to have turbos
its like saying aww boo hoo... F1's are only good coz of their aero-dynamics... no sh*t sherlock, really?
yeah thats fair..
n/a vs n/a
rb26de vs ls1 or ls2....
hmm while we're at it boys.... lets compare the LS1 to a toyota camry engine aswell!!!
NICE!!!
would make them feel "big" right?

I think someone just busted a blood vessel lol.
Nah mate I see your point, but in reality a non-turbo Skyline isn't all that flash, much like a stock Commodore V6 or stock 5L. Yet some people seem to think the only Skylines to grace god's green earth are GTRs. Going from experience non-GTRs are certainly nothing to cream over.
As for the HSV only just doing flat 13s, I think that's pretty good considering how heavy they are, and don't use 4WD. Maybe it took 20 years, but remember the XY GTHO ran a 14 in 1970s, and it took a car with a twin turbo setup, and 4WD to out run it in the 90s. (GTR)
Skyline vs Commodore debates will never end. Personally I will always stick up for the Commodores. Not that I hate Skylines, but because I hate the comparison.

Everyone knows the 2JZ ****s on the RBs.
If I had the money, I would shove one in the VL, or just buy a V8 Commie/Falcon.

Oh sorry.
Speaking of GTR's:
Last night some wanker in a GTR was on the far right lane on the highway, and us CT guys were crusing in all the three lanes, anyhow he cut three VL's off at once nearly hitting the one on the far left by half a foot, we were not happy.

11-08-07, 16:55 GMT+10#116 i wouldnt go as far as saying sh*ts on...
either motor when heavily worked makes power and goes quick.
then again im pretty sure that some of the drag cars in the USA using 2JZs are making fkloads of power and theyre doing like bullsh*t times!
i think theres some doing 6.5-6.6sec 400m...... damn those 2JZs! mind u the bodies are usually based off weird toyotas, and the car would be pretty damn light...

I agree completely with your opinion on the whole "remove the turbos" bull****... yeah no **** the car will be slow without the turbos, the turbos are the car's power adder, just like the 6 litres of displacement are a new HSV's power adder... it's the same **** just a different way of going about it.. talk about trying to unlevel the playing field. I can't for the life of me understand why people say things like "yeah take off the turbo and we'l see", umm yeah right that makes sense, if you are going to make any sort of comparison, do it on price- at least thats ****ing logical.
But seriously man, who cares if a 2007 HSV is the same 1/4 mile and 0-100 wise as a 15+ year old GTRs. GTRs were built as a race car for the road, a VE HSV GTS is the complete package.. you simply could not compare driving the two, the GTR would feel like a powerful datsun 180b with coil overs (sorry willy).

I agree.
I would take the HSV GTS any day over a 15+ year old GTR. I think the whole "I have to be the fastest" mentality of some people is the downfall or the car scene. It seems these days people only care about what cars they can, and cannot beat.
If you spend all your time and money on your car, just to make a "bogan" or "ricer" cut, then you are a major f***wit.

I'd go the GTR, only because, I'd love to have one. I don't care about the power, just love it for the car.

Fair call.
I actually don't mind 32/34 GTRs. IMO 33s are like VNs. I think they look ugly, but a nice one will catch my eye.
I would personally never own a Skyline, unless it was a R31. I only have a soft spot for 3 imports. Supras, EVOs, WRXs.
Other then that I'm a massive Aussie/American car fan. Performance isn't why I like cars.
