09-04-07, 18:43 GMT+10#103 sure you are kane, you'll end up swapping before you build it!
I've got a stroker soon to be put back into the car after the rebuild with a 100hp shot of giggle gas for that extra kick. i want an 11 second pass!!

09-04-07, 18:46 GMT+10#104 im weighing up the options of a stroker or staying stock stroke.. i already have a stock stroke motor here, would just wanna get it ready for gas!

Did you just not know about other ways to do the motor, ie forced induction, or u specifically wanted n/a ??
Cause the way i've always seen it.. u spend thousands on the heads, thousands on a good manifold, a carby or throttle body, cams, exhaust, stroker crank, expensive fuel blah blah... very rough guesstimate, this will make 250rwkw or more.. not a hell of a lot more than that though.
Now why wouldn't you of rather of just bought a fat snail, got exhaust manifolds made up, did the pistons and rods, stock crank machined, stock heads, stock cam.. and make a stinkload more power with better manners and drivability and have it on demand or not.. as opposed to constant anger from a high compression n/a combo.
All i see is advantages everywhere to a forced induction setup and not much going for an n/a combo, surely its not a price thing as i cant see how a turbo costs more...
i just like the violence inherent to the N/A option, might not make the mega HP figures of some blown or hairdryer equipped units, but it FEELS like it does and much more

10-04-07, 06:24 GMT+10#107 i guess another reason im gonna build N/A is cos we can do all the work ourselves.. if i go turbo/blown i gotta get some bloke to make me up a buttload of pipes/bends, manifolds etc.
oh and i plan on running nitrous too..
and we didnt see the drags at the easternats yesterday? won by an N/A with some gas

10-04-07, 16:47 GMT+10#109 NA v8 all the way, currently in the build ive got a vt block, roller cam, 383 crank, single plane high rise manifold, mighty demon carby, efi heads, now why would i need a turbo hehehe, well maybe a 6/71 hanging out the bonnet someday

cause a turbo can make a lot more power than a dinosaur 6/71!

its not always about the max power an engine can make, its the look and sound of it aswell.

why someone would wanna spend more to go slower, make less power and be more cranky to drive blows my mind... are you implying turbo'ed V8's dont look good? are you saying they dont SOUND good??????
to each his own

11-04-07, 01:00 GMT+10#113 Its funny how every1 seems to think turboed is the way to go, but easternats was a good example as to who makes and lays down better power? i mean there was a 700+rwhp supra there that didnt even make it into the top 10, a single turboed ls1 again not into the top 10, i mean its easy to make a bagg load of power but its again another to lay it down and have the power band from start to finish to be abel to win the race! top 10 cars were all v8s with the help of a little sniff of n2o

11-04-07, 06:04 GMT+10#114 we discussed this on sunday, i remember it well.. that stato was apparently making 700 at the wheels, but it'd be lucky to run a low 11!

Makes sense when you've got a barge with IRS.

exactly... add to the fact most the guys that brag about getting power like that do it just for show and do not even get remotely close to setting their car up to run fast time. With that power even at that weight it should be able to run a mid 10 though it takes a lot of work and setup to get to that stage especially with regards to putting the power down.

16-05-07, 00:10 GMT+10#117 v8's are the best end of story.... Have you ever been for a drive in a v8 with a 5000rpm stally, auto trans that makes 580 - 600hp at the engine???
