Well many moons ago, I convinced my dad to upgrade from his 1972 Toyota Crown SE. And get a real car. And that car was a Brand new VL Calais in white on silver with the factory/dealer fitted upgraded country pack. ( from memory that meant better suspension and bash plates under engine and petrol tank ) Also had leather interior, but from day one the bloody buttons kept popping off the rear seat, whenever someone would slide their bum over it. Had quite a few cosmetic problems with interior, and other things like mirorrs falling off whilst driving. But mechanically it was gold. Was also my firt car, that I got driving lessons in, at Chaddy carpark ( before Sunday trading ). Gee am i showing my age here. too funny - hahaha He kept it two years, then upgraded to a VN Calais - which he kept for 12 years and sold with only 110,000 original kays. I have owned heaps of Commodores personally, but never a VL. Have had VB, VC, VH, VN, VR, VS, VT ,VX, AND VZ . In all forms be it HSVs, SSs, Calais, SL/Xs, and SL/Es. Still have the bug to pick up a VL turbo one of these days. This site, always tempts me to lean to the dark side - hahahaa Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

what got me into VLs was when my dad bought a VL Calais Series 2. It was the nicest car I had seen because I was small and didnt know much about cars. Now I am 16 and got Ls and I have bought the car off my dad. I love it and i will probably get another one after this and I hope to get another Calais Series 2 but a turbo Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Initially had my heart set on a VH SL/E, but after looking at a few, and them seeming too old and and more work, a VL popped up in the trading post with a pic, in my price range and in my home town, had a look and that was it! Then it took me to have time off work with an injury to find this site and become obsessed!

back in my early teens a guy up the road from me always used to dose up and down my street, soon after i found a very local performance shop, i went in there and asked if i could learn about cars from them, and that dosing vl was a regular, ended up being mates with him and used to help him on the vl, we ended up doing motors, diffs the lot, as i got older he would take me to the illegals and cruise around, its funny really cause now that guy is like my best mate and my vl na looks exactly like his old 1 except i havnt spent 30gz on it :P

I hated VL's with a passion but when the time came to buy my first car, my uncle offered me his VL which he had owned since new. As soon as i drove it i fell in love, and with the amount of work ive put in to date, it shows. <3

i first bought a vl for a daily while working on the valiant and i chose a vl becuase i "DIDN'T" like them at all. i wanted something that i could get around in and not like it so i wouldnt want to do it up!! then i saw some clips of 'platnm' and was blown away with what the RB30 was capable of. instantly fell in love with them and im on my 2nd vl. at first i didnt really like the executive look but seeing many awesome looking execs i loved them more and more. my first was a white vl calais and now have a SL. love them both and couldnt ever see myself in any other car than my valiant or vl. but now im definatly an SL fan!! so im 2 vl's in and still working on the valiant Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
