15-03-06, 10:32 GMT+10#101 No-one makes out the 30E is the worst engine to modify, its just that when there is an alternate way to make power reliably and cheaper than throwing bucks at the 30E.....well, some people just dont see the point...it'd be bit like someone modding a non-turbo SR20 Silvia....that s h i t just doesnt happen!
Im not opposed to it but its about bang for your buck at the end of the day...

If you're got alot of money to burn I dont see the problem with it.
I dunno maybe its because im more impressed by N/A cars running solid times than Turbos.
It just doesnt revolve around VLs but I love seeing N/A 4s or 6s running great times, it just goes to show that Forced Induction maybe cheaper but it isnt everything.

15-03-06, 13:06 GMT+10#104 I think for some oldschoolers (like me) turbos were never an option unless you were stinking rich! I wasn't ,therefore I have grown up with N/A everything. A datto or an esky with twin webbers or even injection is more pleasing to hear than the 10,000 blowoff valves and crap I hear everyday.
Do you young guys even know what a webber carby looks like or sounds like?

A mate has a N/A LJ Torrie running webbers and yes that thing is a f***ing beast, even in N/A.
I also agree about the BOVs, it does get quite repetitive hearing the wankers drive past just to let the fulli sik BOV go off.
Then you hear a Datto 1600 with a N/A 13B and it sends shivers up your spine.
I think this whole interest for N/As comes because I have only been associated with N/A cars, never been in or driven anything with Forced Induction so I have alot of respect for a car that isnt using Boost.

i think if it was actually possible to use the crank from the L24 motor to turn an RB30 into a 3.3L then why arent a lot more people doing it??

If you have more dollars then sense then that's your perogative. However, most people don't feel the need to blatantly throw away money when a better solution is available.
I'm not saying I don't love tough N/A cars (cause I do) but most tough N/A cars are born because there is no off the shelf turbo setup available, or they are ridiculously expensive. If an easy (or cheap) option of turbo is there (as in the case of the RB30) then I reckon you are nuts not to take it.

Gee 200kw's is a lot. Jump into my boat which has 700hp and can do 100mph on water and see how you go. You'll need more than a nappy and it is all N/A. You have no idea what power is.

17-03-06, 15:55 GMT+10#114 Is it a RB30? does it have wheels? get over it. You guys are on another planet, you crap on about the fastest RB30E having 130 something rwkw, yee farkin ha, a stock vlt with cooler, exhaust and boost controller can pump out over 170rwkw without changing cam or anything else. A 700hp boat would be fantastic but we are talking about cars with 3L engine so don't change the subject to big note yourself

17-03-06, 20:45 GMT+10#116 The fastest NA has a lot more than 130rwkw.
If this thread turns into a poofight, I'll close it. Keep it on topic.

17-03-06, 20:56 GMT+10#117 Well back to the topic then, who has the quickest RB30E? So far we have heard that someone can do a 14, sounds pretty close to 130rwkw to me?
Not trying to be smart either, I genuinely want to know, and I reckon seeing a RB30E run a 12 would be awesome to see.

17-03-06, 21:01 GMT+10#118 Deano on here has run a decent number. I can't remember what it was though. A 13 I think. The most I've seen was built by Redcliffe dyno. The figures are on their site somewhere. I don't think it has ever been on the strip either.
