A bit of an update. After a long night managed to attach flywheel clutch etc, and finally drop the engine back in the car. Bloody hard work! All went together relatively easy apart from lining up one bolt on the engine mount. After some persuasion and cursing it fell into place. Gearbox will go in soon. Still have to polish and tidy up a few bits on the engine, but at least its in place. Decided to ditch the crap one piece front and rear Walkinshaw bumpers that came with the car. Mike Shaw is making the new ones for a good price. After a bit of effort and trying to tidy up the rear one, it seemed like a waste of time. So much for budgets! Will hopefully start making some progress now. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Cheers Marty ps I bugeted for 25-30k and ended up nearly 70k Are the Kilkerney Casting rockers any good Marty? I bought the KC thermostat housing through Repco. Maybe they do the rockers too?! Has the Walky Rep you referring to always been black? LS2 or stroked Holden engine? I stopped adding things up a long time ago. Should have saved and bought a genuine. Only down side I would feel guilty tampering with a real deal.

I had an after market thermostat housing and it always leaked,Some of them like redline would warp once they got hot.The Kilkerney cast rocker covers I recon are one of the best!!Yes his has always been black and has a stroked holden engine with a Vett box,He did this about 6 years ago has always run her at the drags and has a nine inch diffy in her, custom yank dash that he brought parts and gear thru summitt racing, runs a Mighty demon on top. Have been spending weekends working on the body kit - been very time consuming. Finally got the front bumper mounted. Ended up up making attachment points, which were fiberglassed onto the bumper. Doesnt look too flash from the back, but it works. Makes installing and removing the bumper a fairly easy exercise by reaching through the cutouts. The bumper took a lot of time and sanding to get it to fit. Ended up doing a lot of the work by eye to get the best fit. The centre panel between the lights was a bit out and ended up extending this. Still needs to be shaped properly. Also ended up cutting the bonnet. I wasn't happy with the fit of the boot spoiler to the quarter panel moulding on the drivers side. Despite mucking around, I couldn't get the gap and alignment right, without stuffing it up elsewhere. I spent a bit of time filling the gap and shaping it, still needs a bit of work, but much happier now. I'll try the side skirts next - waiting for some new door moulds to arrive. Decided that the second hand set I had weren't good enough to use!

Thanks mate, received the new door mouldings - got them from Aerotech (was cheaper for some reason?) Build quality and mounting method is very good. Mounted these yesterday, the fit is good with minor tidying up to do. Hope to fit the sideskirts next weekend. Will post some pics assuming it goes to plan . I like your seats on your SC thread! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Fitted the side skirts. A ****en bitch of a job. Took two days to fit them, and I still have to fit the guard caps. Proved to be a very frustrating exercise. The curve in the top edge that sits over the sill made it very difficult to get into place. Had to cut various sections out of the bottom of the upper piece to make it a bit more flexible. Even then it was quite an exercise to fit into position. The only way I could get them on was by removing the door moulds and having the doors shut. The skirts and door moulds need some work to even up gaps. Of all the body kit, this has been the hardest and most time consuming, still dont know how easy they will be to install once painted . Should maybe have gone for one piece side skirts!... Probably wouldnt look anywhere as good though. Also tidied up the front bumper and bonnet scoop at the same time. Have got rid of some of the gaps that were there. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Are you going to mould the scoop into the bonnet? I remember seeing that done once and it was pretty sweet.

I thought about doing that so there would be no gaps, it would look good. But I might leave it separate for now as the fit is pretty good. Might look at it again before paint, can always change it then.

Achieved a milestone - got the rest of the bodykit mounted on the car! Sorry if the pics are a bit similar to the last ones. The guard caps make a huge difference in the look of the car. As always, some parts still need a little bit of adjusting before paint. Overall pretty happy with the look and fit. After this exercise, will definitely not want to do it again, but no regrets so far . Need to get back to the mechanical side of things - should hopefully get it running in the next few weeks. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Made some progress. Installed all the brake calipers and lines. Also started putting engine parts back together - intake manifold, new carb, throttle bracket, sensors, air cleaner, new v8 aluminium radiator, and oil catch can. Still need to sort out hoses pipes, cables etc. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Cheers Marty Thanks mate and for the advice, 50/50 about using the rocker covers. Im going to run an oil catch can - not sure whether this will help the problem if they are that bad. Might have a look around for some reasonably priced covers.

Coming alone nicely! I ran these cover for yrs & never had to much of a problem, sure they aren't the flashest things out there but when the budget is tight...... Just run a little bit of sealer between the cover & the cork gasket to stick them to it, & don't over tighten them... Hope that alternator is goin to get the Christmas makeover it deserves...
