Is this cage Andra approved with the bent taxi bar and the rear c pillar bars bending in to meet the chasis rails in the boot? This is how i want my cage but was told it wont pass a andra tech (by an andra official) ??? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

This is how i want my cage but was told it wont pass a andra tech (by an andra official) ??? I didn't build that cage but did ollies which is almost identical, only moly. The cage you see pictured was BUILT by an ANDRA tech inspector, so yes, it will pass, if not find another inspector as he's a doodle. RE the bent bars in the boot, the cage has a 1 1/2" bar under the rear shelf between the 2 bars, just after the bend, giving back any strength lost by the bend, if not improving it over straight bars. IMO the rear bars are a waste of time anyway, I hardly see how most I've ever seen would mke any difference in an impact, they would fold in so easily they are almost pointless. If they were to be of any advantage, I would have thought they should have a cross bar like you do across the front window. I don't write the rules tho!! 6BOOST

For seriously tough cages, google the 25.5 and 25.2 NHRA rollcages.. Thats some intense stuff.

I agree 100% about the rear cross bar! Ideal cage because its way less noticeable than running straight down the middle of the back window and also a bit safer for rear passengers too id imagine?

Thats some damn fine work you got there! It seems to me that type of cage down here in Sydney is all "too hard" for most, "that wont pass" by some cage builders then i asked a andra tech and he said the same? Doodle aint the word for it! Cheers.

Its how mine has been fabricated "not through the dash" and i heard that a while ago but since ive been going too the drags ive seen plenty of cars with them around the dash.Anyone else got any light on it?

It's a fact. Thats why the Japanese made one aren't legal here, supposedly it creates a weakness bending the bar around the dash.

If it goes straight down then its legal. If it has a kink in the pipes to get it around the dash then no. Exhibit A

How did you boys get the sound deadening off the floor? Did you take it all off? Or only the places the welds would be going? Cheers.

Best way is to snap freeze it, with liquid nitrogen I think, then it just breaks off easily. Some people heat it up but then it just goes all gooey and makes a big mess. Either way its time consuming, I chipped all the deadening off an rx7 race car once, took forever.
