Ok decided to go against the master cylinder polish... Would have end up doing the brake lines. And dont think id stop there. Besides not building a show car.... Anyway. Recenlty bought a VX Master cylinder. It has VT stamped on the front tho, Dont care bout this. But The reservoir dont seem to have as much of an angle on it as the one pictured at the beginning of the thread??? Has anyone come across one like this???? I'l post up pics

Yes, get the copper washers. You need to check that the reservoir sits fairly flat when installed, so your brake fluid doesn't spill.

Cheers i'll double check that. Yeah Hopper Stoppers said they should have come with copper washers and may be hard to find. But would send them to me if i have no luck.... If i have no luck today at AUS hose, I guess i'll just have to get them send from Hopper Stoppers. Make sure you all ask for the copper washes if you are ordering them. Save F'ing around... Cheers Again

Guys, Help needed, I knows its not a VL etc etc but it is a commodore! lol I have a VK commodore rally car, the brakes have been upgrade to Vovle 4piston fronts, the rears have Volvo 2 pistpn calipers. The master cylinder is a new 1 inch bore. The problem I have is the pedal is very soft, moving approx 3-4 inch before pressure is applied to the brakes, making for a long pedal. I have bled the system quite a few times and am confident the system has no air in it. I have also pulled the cylinder from the booster, and with my fingers am able to press the piston into the cylinder approx 4-5mm quite easily before pressure builds and I can push any further. (this is where the long pedal is generated from) Do you guys believe a VT master will remove the long pedal? Also is there a cylinder with the same valving as the VT cylinder with mounting the same as the original booster bolts holes? Or can i mount the VT master to the early model booster? As i just spent $300on a new booster with increased power and cant really afford another booster. Thanks Heaps Anthony

I'd definately recommend the VT master/booster combo with that many pistons.

what are the piston sizes in the volvo calipers? I think this mod will sort the problem out for you. The VT master wont bolt up to the VK style Booster, and I'm not aware of a "fast fill" master that is a direct fit. Maybe speak to a brake shop if you really want to use your old booster. The VS booster may only be single diaphragm, but with the booster/master combo you definitely don't need any more vacuum assistance.

Thanks, the piston size is approx 50mm is dia each. I have spoken to my brake guys and they can supply a cylinder with VT spec valving to fit the standard booster. So i will buy a new cylinder and booster. Question is does the VT booster fit in the VK with exception of the height of the brake pedal? thanks Anthony

im guessing the VK booster is the same as the VL? then the VT m/c wont fit straight on,i have V8 VL booster modified to fit VT m/c but its alot of stuffing around the VT m/c is 1"1/4

Will be interesting to see how it goes. Either way it will be a massive improvement over your current setup. VT booster wont fit the early commodores without substantial mods. If you want something to bolt up with minimum fuss you need to use the VS V6 booster as in RB30-POWER's write up.

I'l post up pics You can use a resevoir from a au falcon and when bolted up the top will be level and look like it was made for it....If you use a vs one which in looks is exactly the same as the au one you will have to drill and tap a new mounting hole in the webbing of the master for the resevoir mounting screw as it is in a slightly different place to the vt one. The one in the picture is my vr with a vs resevoir showing the hole differences...it was before I found that a au one will bolt straight up.

Hi Guys, Finally got the conversion done. First word is unbelieveable!! all fixed. I ended up getting a VT Booster already converted with an adjustable pedal. Once it was bolted up the standard resevoir is way wrong the part number that was stated on the first post VS21166 is correct and it is available through holden. it cost $17 (trade). Also the brake lines looked terrible once put into place into the vt cylinder. so i pulled them out and made 2 new lines for the front. I did however keep it a single flare with the adapters. I also made a decent bracket for the M/C that can be removed by undoing the two bolts on the tower by a few threads then undo the bolt in the cylinder and out she comes. The braking performance is now fantastic. Even with Yellow EBC pads (which take a bit of heat to get them to work, as it is a rally car) it pulls up well when cold! So to everyone thanks! its been a problems for about 9 months and finally fixed! i'll post a pic or two in a couple of day with new lines etc. Thanks Anthony

Hey I managed to find a VS reservior that fit today. It came off a VS Statesman. And here's a tip, if you are sourcing all of the bits from a wreckers, assemble it all into one unit and you will get it for much cheaper! I got the VS booster, VT master cylinder and the VS reservoir for $60 all up at pick and payless.

Would definately recommend if your having trouble chasing up the vs reservoir, fluid sits perfectly. Took half a day to order in through jarvis ford.

Hey ando I think the ford wankers ripped you a bit...I just bought a reservoir to fit a au to do a conversion..it was 20 and a bit dollars retail...surely the seals arent 10 bucks each. Anyone interested? Ive pumped out a few complete vt booster/master kits for commo ownwers and Im asking 200 ..thats plug and play but thats without line adapters I have personally fitted them to my vh, my vr and my dads vp and sold them to a few now satisfied commodore owners...wonder how many commodores would still be on the road if they had this conversion....it even firms (and shortens)up a pedal on a car with vl turbo brakes but rear discs are recommended. Click here (http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/tt5/markovr/IMG_8312-2.jpg?t=1243036744) to see my VH with a VT Brake Booster.

Bit steep but thought i'd do them while it was apart.

Ando could you put a pick up of your setup with the au resevoir? Also do you know the part number at all mate? What seals are you referring to?

Part numbers are in post #133 Looks exactly the same as the one in the original post after the resevoirs have been changed. The seals sit in the top of the master cylinder i just popped them out with a small screwdriver. Probably not necessary to change the but thought i'd do them while it was apart.
