Hey Gav, yeah I noticed in his sig he's after an LSD diff, but he wants 25 spline. Which makes me think he wants the centre only. Anyway, if he's interested I'd be happy to discuss it with him!

No worries mate
wow I'm so confused with my own VL practically sold my entire Turbo Conversion now, just waiting on the engine & gearbox now then I have to decide on a number of possible donor engine. I have thought of maybe a 25/30, even a 5.0L etc.
what made you go 25/30 mate?
I decided on 25/30 after I met PSIWOG, who owned a 25/30 manual Calais. Initially, it was cost V result decision; SOHC yields 105rwkw, DOHC with a RB25DET head yields 128.8rwkw. The price for purchasing all parts was essentially the same (around $1600 for the SOHC setup [ended up selling it for $1200], $1275 for the DOHC setup), and since I rarely have to factor labour into my upgrades (do 95% of everything myself), it was just the smart move.
Furthermore, considering the basic conversion costs the same, the flow rate of the twin cam RB heads is a very attractive feature, as well as the aftermarket support for Skylines. The cams in RB25DET heads are apparently good for 300kw (not so in SOHC), you have double the valves, six coil packs as standard (that's your ignition sorted for at least the first 300kw), variable cam timing, and also the quality of Nissan ECUs.
Besides, twin cam is much more interesting.

Coming in the next few days...
Both VT HSV 330x32mm slotted and VN Group A 278x20mm vented slotted discs. And for quite a steal!
Suspension is also coming, I'm just waiting to hear back about a couple of items that I'm having trouble chasing up.

so was it also a cost factor for your choice on 25/30 over a 26/30?
thx for the information Tim, just really confused @ where I am with my VL, sold my turbo conversion as I want to properly build a decent motor preferably 25/30 or even 26/30 combo etc.
cost won't bother me as I'm patient
just so confused!?

Im the same Gav. My build is quite expensive, and I don't earn that much, but you'll get what you want with patience.
The RB26 head doesn't bolt straight up to the RB30 block without modifications. Well, neither does the RB25, but the RB25 head only needs a waterport welded shut, and then the head machined again. RB26 needs a few more things changed. And there's not a huge difference between them.

Probably going to leave it as is mate. I'm more interested (or "obsessed", as my mates put it) in parts that make it handle, stop or go fast, then parts that alter the appearance.
But I'm not sure, we'll see what the future holds. Nothing like a Calais arse end.

Look what I picked up yesterday:
Dash is broken a little here and there, but it's repairable. Seats will get a good steam clean too.

I envy you!

Not much to envy at the moment man - car is on jack stands with zero drive line! No brakes, suspension, diff, box, motor, nothing!
And there's parts everywhere!
sell the calais front off and make this a mint berlina with a red interior!, possibly silver over MX, or black over MX - stop this mix and match ****!
berlinas are hot anyway, just look at 7FOUR7
My stock-o front is rooted, so I'd have to get a new one. It's completely Berlina spec, with the exception of the front.
The only paint colours this car will see are white or black! But the paint is fine atm.

carpet you can order from some place in dandy, they make new carpets to suit most cars in any colour for $115 or something (thats 2 piece)? I know it's more for the single piece carpet.
Steering wheel just get something better.
