I'd expect an RB30DE running a 10.5:1 compression ratio to have similar performance to the old HSV 5 litre. It would have similar performance to a stock RB25DET which has 187 kW of power, the motor was built using parts from an RB25DE which puts out as much as an ECOTEC v6 (147kw) which is close to a stock VLT. I've kept up to these cars :- BG Falcon - 195 kw 6 cylinder VZ Commodore SV6 - 190 kw 6 cylinder AU XR8 Falcon ute - 180 kw v8 Someone in Japan fitted an RB30DE to an R33 Skyline with multiple throttle bodies,it was putting out 225 kw at the flywheel. As far as an RB20DET in a VS Commodore goes,I don't see what the problem would be because a guy fitted one to a HQ premier and it goes alright. I'm sure someone on here has one fitted to a VL wagon which would be similar in weight to a VS sedan, a VN Commodore was going to be fitted with an RB30E which isn't anything special and an RB20DET I'd imagine would have a heap more go. These days I wouldn't bother with an n/a 3 litre coz I've got a 300kw v8 for my daily driver where I don't have to drop it back a gear to overtake and I've still gotta be careful even with the traction control switched on. If I was playing with an RB30 it would be a turbo for sure.

well i wanna put the rb20det i got laying around in a vr ute! the rb20det i got atm is stock and runnin 10psi and getting 160.2rwkw. it was no slug when i had it is a r31 skyline. i currently have a vs commodore sedan (for sale) and the rb20det went alot faster then the commodore does. so i wanna ute and was thinkin of putting the rb20det in a vr ute? is it legal? and wat are ppls thoughts on that. its only goin to be my daily driver as i got the vl calais turb for weekend and high power duties lol.

Its ghey, very ghey. Most of the rubbish in this thread is about as useful as a used tampax.
