27-09-05, 17:03 GMT+10#125 my best mate's VX SS with ls1edit or a cam (seller didnt know which, but it was dynoed at 236rwkw), difillipo extractors into a dual 2.5 in zorst felt heaps faster off the line than my vn 5 litre. You got a big ass shove in the back as well - only problem is that it sounds fairly pussy at idle and low revs - I like how you can feel my engine idling
I thrashed an SL VLT with a front mount and a 5 speed a couple of weeks back, surprised the hell out of me because i thought a mild vlt would beat a mild 5 litre any day, especially with the 3.45 gears, but there you go.

27-09-05, 20:18 GMT+10#126 i had a 202 N/A in my commo that pushed out over 160kw with $1500 worth of parts in it and with the trimatic did over 220km/h. When looking at an engine conversion i wanted a stonking big v8 but just couldnt afford it in the end and so went for a turbo, i looked at a lot of sources like zoom magazine which has excellent build ups of engines each issue. Nothing beats the sound of a big V8 and i believe they have more potential, for me it came down to what i need at the time with the money i have, both have +'s and -'s.. I know this comment comes abit to late but 'lets not get involved in a **** slinging atch here' arguing about this is like trying to tell a rotor head that rotors are **** ;-)

30-09-05, 18:26 GMT+10#127 at the end of the day its not what kind of engine you have its how much money you are willing to sacrafice..you can make a shopping trolly go fast if u wanna spend money on it .......it's all down to personal choice if every body loved turbo's it would be a very boring world and we would be deprived of some awesome cars...

Nothing smart to say... what i have s2 vy ute with only exhaust and monaro air box and no vl turbo has beaten me any where off the lights or at any point. my mate has the rb25 in his and spent 8k on it and he wasnt even with in a car length away. please dont diss ls1 they are made as a family engine and have way more pottential than the rb motors
For a motor with the twice the cubic capacity of the RB30, the LS1 would wanna have more potential! And I do agree, potential is the word...hang one of those massive GT turbos off one and theyre a weapon as i witnessed at the last street meet at AIR with the LS1 Edit tonner running some strong MPH.
I used to work at Metro Holden and drove heaps of them things mate, they did not inspire me one bit, even the 300 GTS felt doughy, having said that they are deceptively quick for the fat boat they are...they just dont have that low down torquey feel to them like a VN SS did and still does.
Youve got youself a mid to high 13 second car in that ute...dont kid yourself.
Darren.

like i said they are a family package engine my point is they are good for what they are and what they are worth 4500 for new motor in crate, for a decen`t turbo your looking at 2000 aren`t you. thanks buddies
