My brother was there as well, run a 13.2@102mph is his mostly stock gti-r. My house mate blew his box on his bluebird on the first run, only thing was it was a brand new straight cut box with less than 1000km on it. Think it will be going back under warantee. It blew the end of the box clean out.

yeh seen the blubird do its box felt so sorry for him, happened to me last year

Yeah, it was a pretty sus one. The gearset has a lifetime warantee up to 650hp, with no one really breaking one yet. The box build has a 30 day warantee which it didnt reach, so i think he has the right to do some arse kicking. His car is pretty stock, so there is no way it should be breaking that box. Biggest pain is getting it in and out of the car, its an engine out job.

launched really hard though. been waiting for someone to play with the sss blubird sr20 and 4wd makes a good sleeper

Yeah that was the idea. He blew the first box driving lightly. The same make gearset has been in a few 10 second gti-r's (they share the same box as a sss), so I dont know why it died in a high 13 second car. The input shaft has some how forced the end of the box to crack off leaving a nice 10cm diameter hole with the end of the shaft visible. With a straight cut box there shouldnt be really be much force going that way at all.

how much more weight is the sss vs the gtir if it has alot more weight that would put more load on the box

turnout wasn't that bad! At least 4-5 vlts out there. I didn't pike either, not that I ran it down, but I was still there. In need of a tune!!! The next cruise will be better! alot more organised!!! Dean

Its about 150kg between the 2 cars. Not enough to break something rated to 650hp imo.

how are you all doing my name is matt white vl berlina na bottom end gear box and diff. my car was off the road for two weeks worked on it all day saturday rebuild a turbo got the car going at 7 45 and still went out and raced bit dissapointing to do with the vl turnout some nice other cars there though. was talking today to tim (rb30x) and we spoke about the idea of hiring the trace for a possible sunday meeting every one invited but that will be in the further down the track
