smart boy. High speed is overated. Best part of driving i reckon is finding a large carpak or a corner which is clear. Going arount it quick enough to provoke understeer or oversteer and correcting it . gives u a lot of satisfaction to be able to correct stuff like that. When ur average joe dosn't even know what the terms mean let alone how to correct them. Any **** can hold it flat to 200km/h, proves nothing at all about driving skill.
my auto VLT in overdrive sits on 2200rpm at 100kph and 3100rpm at 150kph. (my speedo is under reading by 2.5% at 100 so it's really about 146 kph, my tacho is accurate over 1000rpm) Considering losses throught the converter (turbo converters don't lockup) the car has a 6200rpm (or 6500?) rev limit and no speed limiter, what speed would it potentially do? i'm thinking It would be more than the highway patrol can.
I don't think a top speed of 240-250 kph would be too far off in an auto turbo that is boosted for extra torque to overcome wind resistance. It would be suicidal to try to get to that sort of speed in a VL considering the handleing charactistics. The body is too stiff and I find they tend to lift the rear wheels when cornering hard at speed, it takes some serious suspension work to overcome this. Still that sort of speed is dangerous no matter how good the car.
i dont think n e 1 here posted a speed like that, but cancelling out vl's ****ty steering and all problems that can happen on an imperfect road i guess u could do that.
its much safer 2 c ur top speed on a dyno, it would giv a realistic figure without any of the risks
With my old NA you could get it off the clock but you would get bored getting it there so I only did it once. But my Auto VLT revs at 4000rpm at just over 100kph and will get to 200kph damn quick and sit there while the revs build even more. I had it in the red the other night. But who really cares about this sort of behaviour it's rather stupid and doesnt show much skill I would much rather a nice piece of road with heaps of corners or somewhere that you could pull off a couple of nice slides well that my 2.2c worth inc gst.

Most dynos won't do over 200kph. thats why manuel cars are ususally run in 4th gear and autos in 3rd.
There is a Wheels issue which takes the turbo off the clock - 247Km - COVER HEADLINE WAS "OFF THE CLOCK!". Picture of the speedo on the cover. I've personally done 240ish in mine - I know my speedo needle was in a similar position as the needle in the Wheels magazine.
u crazy man!
were u l8 4 work? cos if u just had a heap of time to waste try driving slower, that way after ur done driving you'll hav less time 2 fill in
