Up to you as to how you want to mount them.
I have the skinny, steel end towards the top of the bonnet, looks better i reckon, alot of people have the black gas cartridge end at the top.
I think all late model commodores have the gas cartridge at the top in their factory setup, but i like it reversed.
Tried that, they went in, but when i lifted it again they popped back out, ideas?
Hmm.....
They aren't worn excessively?
I know on mine, because i picked them up secondhand, while they both had GM part no's the plastic part that clips onto the balls are different, one side has a push in pin, while the other has a metal clip that clips on.
Not that any of that is probally relevant, im just stating i think there are two types of fasteners for the struts.
The push in pin on mine, was real tight (well fairly), bit of a ****.
How tight is it to push in?
With regards to the mouting as mentioned on the previous page, its interesting about the oil idea, running to lube the seal, never thought of it thay way.
Because even thought its under pressure the oil may run to the bottom, like a shock would.
If you open the bonnet and exercise the struts every now and again, im sure it would push the oil through the valving and stuff in the strut and lube it anyway.
If you think about it a shock absorber has the seal at the top and it similar principle.
Still food for thought though...
Put them on my Calais tonight... got the whole lot from a VH wagon for FREE!!!! 4 ball joins, a few washers, nuts from strut towers tops and 2 boot struts
Bonnet doesnt sit the flattest, but it never really has coz its not the original
dont complain about my engine bay... im in the process of cleaning it up
I might turn them the other way, coz thats how they are in wagons...

yeah i finally did mine the other day, but the bonnet doesnt stay up when its cold so i'll have to get another pair next time im at the wreckers.
